A bit controversial but I think he's better as a striker, ala Henke.
My thoughts exactly. He looked a bit like henke in first half, played through by rogic. Although henke would've chipped it over the keeper.
these were my thought too last night, never thought I would be comparing a player to Henrik but pleased that I am, great signing :worthy: :worthy:

He's got the sort of blistering pace and composure that will make him a standout player in Scottish football.

At 27, he's young enough to really make his mark at Celtic.

Was a bit dubious about someone as good as his reputation suggests he is, coming to Scotland .Never saw him before he came on against Hearts and then the game last night. My mouth is still wide open
When everybody gets to know each other's game, I can see him stealing through the middle with that balance and blistering pace he has, picking up flicks and knock-ons. It's like being in Dreamland having him, Roberts and the born-again Bhoy Forrest as wide players. Especially after having to watch Armstrong, GMS and others struggle to make an impact

Aye, but what about the sell on value? :cuckoo:

Just give him Player of the Year now. A superstar.
Seen some football hipster (I know) folk on twitter expressing scepticism about Sinclair due to 'resale value'. Completely mental. They sound like Arsenal fans with their balance sheet chat.

I believe we tried that approach with young signings under Deila. Armstrong must be worth a fortune by now.

A good player with a resale value what is wrong with that? If he feels that he wants to give it a go back down south after a couple of good seasons here then we need to accept that.

Get £6m in, buy a quality replacement. Get nothing in, look for a Bosman

It is easy to splash big money on players, the skill is getting value for what we pay. If you do that then the value is realised on the park and on the balance sheet.

Just because we went too far in one direction is not an argument to rush straight to the other side of the spectrum. Like most in things in life it is about finding the right balance.

Nothing wrong with it. Some folk said that because he's relatively ancient (27!) his resale value will be negligible.

As I said - mental.

To clarify - I don't think 27 is 'ancient'. Others may disagree.

if we get to the CL then it pays for itself.

We need players like Sinclair and Toure if we have any ambitions of getting over the line again. Not only do they add quality but they improve the players we already have.

It's amazing how these folk struggle to see the bigger picture. By investing in good players we increase our chances of qualifying for the Champions League, this brings in huge amounts of revenue and also increases the value of our players. If someone like Kieran Tierney has a good Champions League campaign his value will skyrocket.

I personally couldn't give a flying eff about resale value, I want these type of players to stay with us long term, not get a season or 2 and then try and make a profit on them like we have been doing

I think the point about the resale value was that everyone was questioning 4m for him based on his age. I don't think anyone is thinking of selling him just yet...!

Yep. Makes perfect sense to sign one or two players of real quality who can have an immediate impact. Couldn't care less about their age (see Kolo Toure). We can't afford to take a gamble on CL qualification any more.

Our support still raves about Lubo to this day. 'Resale value', indeed!

We rave about a lot of players from that period.

Spent more than we earned though. Can't go on forever.

Maybe if we had got money back for more of them to get other players then the downsizing years would not have been so bad to watch.

Their movement alone should create plenty of chances as they drag defenders out of position. You can't put two men on either without leaving space for someone else to exploit. Should be good fun to watch :)
