Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Aye mate I'm for real.Every excuse under the sun has been made for Sinclairs performances last season. The amount of promising attacks that died at his feet last year was exasperating.

FWIW I think he truly believed that his first seasons performance would get him a move to EEPL team and/or catapult him in to Southgates WC squad.Neither happened and he chucked it.

We could do a lot more with his wage.
Don’t forget that just because you truly believe it, it doesn’t mean it’s accurate.
Maybe read the post again

He contributed early on in the season while underperforming, and then was full-on pish the rest of it. I wouldn’t punt him just yet, but if he’s still not picked it up by the next transfer window then he can go. He’s too expensive to warm the bench and deliver the odd nothing cameo.

Agree the list of excuses does seem excessively accommodating for what is basically an underperforming professional footballer.

Could he?

Or did he end up here cos no one down south would touch him?

I didn't state it as fact merely my opinion that's why I said FWIW.

Also around this time last year both the player and BR were making noises about an England call up.

I think you're right about giving him time, January it can be assessed. If he comes back to form then we have a real player on our hands.

So what EPL clubs were in the hunt for him before we signed him?

Most Villa fans appeared to want rid.

He absolutely deserves time.

He still delivered something like 20 goals from the wing with almost the same number of assists.

In years gone by, there was an expectancy for our strikers to score a minimum of 20 goals. We’re getting that from a winger and he’s getting absolutely slaughtered.

We’ve got Forrest on one wing - whose been praised to high heaven and Sinclair who has probably scored and assisted more.

Sinclair was dreadful from about November which isn’t good enough but his return for a guy who was off form for such a long time is crazy and he most definitely deserves a chance to regain his form.

Whether he will is another matter

I so much want this hope to be true!

A lot has been made of his personal problems, does any one know if we have dedicated professionals to help players when they are suffering mentally? I know we have sports psychologists etc. but I assume they focus on aspects of mental health dealing with attitude to football/sport itself.

As someone with many mental health issues, I am lucky that where we work we have a counsellor dedicated to staff well-being. They can refer anyone to a psychiatrist when called for and, speaking from experience, there are times I want to go to work just to talk to her.

At the end of last season, I felt - probably wrongly - that he was trying way too hard and anything he tried was almost certain to go wrong.

Anyway, like us all I presume, I want him to return to form so badly that I end up getting more frustrated with him.

What personal problems does he have? Must have missed this, can’t mind a thing.

Maybe I'm wrong but I seem to remember that there were reports he was missing his family and wanted a move back down South, which was directly impacting on his game. Homesickness, missing family etc can really destroy certain people and would certainly contribute to the belief that something wasn't mentally right with him. His loss of form was more than just a tad dramatic although we have seen others go through it.
