Bournemouth legend Harry Redknapp would love to see Scott Sinclair move to his old club, with the Celtic winger reportedly keen to return to England in the summer. (Scottish Sun)

ok , its the sun , but if he really is wanting back down south that might explain his poorer form over the last few months.
Harry effin Rednapp, did he give these opinions out his car window the absolute carrot

I think this is generally what you see with Sinclair at all his clubs. Plays really well for a period, form dips, moves on. He's a great player when on form but there's a reason we got him for the price we did.

What can we reasonably expect to sell him for though, should it come to that?
If we get offered £8m, I’d take it. I like him, but think he wants to leave.

I don't really know why people are so shocked about this. The guys came up here and been brilliant for us, part of an incredible season and whilst not at his best he's still contributed hugely this season.

But, he's an Englishman, and if he does want to play in England where his family and partner are from and live and where he played the majority of his football career - i wouldnt be too shocked. I wouldn't be surprised if BR sold him on a 2 year stay - come up, get your mojo back, head back down south. Earn a last big wage for a few seasons into the bargain.

Seems a perfectly reasonable likelihood to me, no matter which rag it emanated from. If he does go, he'll be wished well and I'm sure both us and him will have been better off for him joining the club.

How is it everyone's a mind reader all of a sudden, stating as fact that he wants to play in England and what his mental state is like? :ponder:

for clarity, I wasnt saying thats what he wants to do. I'm just saying - if what the suns reported turns out to be true, it's hardly going to be surprising.

His partner lives in Manchester though. He'd be further away from his family if he went to Bournemouth or Brighton.

It's hardly outwith his career trajectory. He only kicks about for a couple of years.

Personally wouldn't be too bothered. An amazing first season but I think he has frustrated in Europe - although the goal in Astana probably saved us from going out.

Burnley or stoke would be his most realistic geographical best case scenarios. Careful what you wish for, Scott.

He’s not ever said he wants to leave, never mind wants to leave to stay in (or close to Manchester) and you’ve just totally made up that they are the only two teams who might want him, but aye “be careful what you wish for”.

Jeezo.

He’s probably at a stage now where his main target is a decent regular wage.

If he moves back to the EPL he won’t be considering trying to crack in to the top 6 teams as that ship will have long sailed.

There is far too many top European players who will flood the EPL for the next few years for guys like Sinclair to expect anything but a mid/lower EPL side, and that’s no criticism of Sinclair.

With a year left on his deal he isn't worth that. Was it 3.5 we got for Hooper in the same circumstances?

Think he's maybe came to some realisation that despite how well he performed for us last season he's never going to get a sniff at that England team up here. A move down south makes sense from that perspective but even then I think his chances of an England call up are slim to none - he'll be into his 30s when the next Euros come around so its more likely a pay day in the EPL is what he's after. If we got anywhere near £5m-£6m, which is pocket change for the EPL, I'd say we've got a decent return on our investment.

BR today (BBC)

Meanwhile Rodgers has played down the prospect of winger Scott Sinclair, who has scored 42 goals since arriving in the summer of 2016, returning to England this summer.

"I just think between now and the end of the season this is probably where the stories begin, and if reporters aren't sure they'll probably just do what they normally do - make it up," he said.

"Scott's very happy, he's a fantastic player for us and he's coming into a part of the season where he was really effective for us last year.

"He's got 17 goals this year, a lot of assists, and this is as a wide player. He's a very important member of our squad here and importantly, he's very happy."
