Guaranteed that some Diets fans will want Cathro emptied after tonight.

They probably will. Some of them even turned on Neilson when they lost to Hibs last season.

I don't think Hearts can be seen to be so fickle as to send Cathro packing yet. No matter how bad it gets I think they'll need to allow him a pre season and the first few months of next season. If they're in the bottom 6 in September/October then fair enough.

Still amazing that, all things considered, some Hearts fans were happy that Neilson left.

Cathro looks out of his depth.

As much of a disaster Mowbray was here I still like the man ...

I hope he does well with them.
Agree with this, the Celtic job swallowed him and he was out his depth from very early on. He was a decent man though and I wish him well wherever he goes.

The woman next to me in work is married to a jambo so I get regular updates on the prevailing mood and some of them were grumbling that Neilson "had taken them as far as he could" even before the Hibs defeat and that was the final straw.

He was hailing Cathro as a daring experiment when he was appointed and calling for him to get bagged before they beat the Huns. About as consistent as a weather vane

Don't think Cathro will recover from that. Minis never forgave Neilson for getting pumped by Hibs - and he was a former player who won them promotion.

They'll limp along for the rest of the season, scrape 4th and then he'll be sacked after a few games of the following season.

I still think Cathro needs time.

Now Hearts can solely just focus on the league, there's no reason they can't finish third if they show some consistency which granted is lacking atm.

The thing I don't get with Hearts is their total deviation from being sensible and bleeding in their younger players. The last few transfer windows have seen them return to the Romanov type deals of hoovering up swathes of expensive foreign crap and needing a revolving door fitted at the training ground.

All rather strange.

And they're giving out silly contracts as well.

3 and a half years to Malaury Martin - who looks utter pish.

Agree completely. The recruitment of second class and over the hill foreign players is a good part of the reason the overall standard of Scottish football has fallen over the years.

:ponder:

If you mean Deila the 'daring experiment' faction stuck with him for the best part of two seasons. The 'never convinced' camp wanted him bagged after Maribor. The majority were somewhere between the two and thought he was on track by the end if his first season only to be proved horribly wrong.

All things considered I think Deila got a reasonable crack of the whip from the club and the majority of the support. Or did I imagine the Ronnie Roar?

I was referring to the fickle supporter thing, wee bit tongue in cheek like. Mainly talking about KDS.

No big deal

On the Cathro thing, he wasn't earmarked for the managers job in the first instance, but he was never giving up his Newcastle salary for anything other than.

He looks, and sounds, well out of his depth at times though.

Like a lot of young managers, he's tried to change too much, too soon. He's got something, but he'll have to finish well in the league to get a chance of another season.

Felt sorry for Cathro. Watched him closely tonight and he definitely isn't managing the team. Somebody from the dugout was up in the directors' box every 5 minutes, taking instructions from Levein and going back downstairs to relay them to Cathro. Levein left his seat 5 minutes before half time and went to the dressing room where he obviously told Cathro what subs to makeand, probably, gave team talk.

Saw Cathro post match. He looked like a wee student who was hanging about a stage door waitng for Belle and Sebastian. Some zoomer female Hearts fan had a go at him claiming he had told her they would definitely beat Hibs.

He's got a big job to turn it around. Hearts didn't lay a glove on a Championship side.

And Hibs aren't even that good. Obviously Lennon's blast at the weekend had the desired effect though.

Cathro isn't a manager, he's a youth coach. And that's what Hearts wanted him as.
