It'll be interesting to see how Bernard Manning gets on at the SFA.
Roy Chubby Brown as his assistant
Leigh Griffiths up front :ph43r:
Goram in Goals

Amoruso at CB

There's the spine.

Leaving his past misdemeanours aside for a moment, what exactly qualifies Mackay for the post anyway?

I asked a Cardiff City fan about Malky's record in developing youth players when he was there. Suffice to say he's as bemused as any of us by the appointment

Exactly.

I can understand forgiving him and trying to move on from his misdemeanours. He never murdered anyone nor sexually assaulted anyone so I suppose we can try to move on but it will always shadow him in the football world. I’m not under stating his actions by/in any way which were wrong and very firmly in poor taste. He was sacked and banished from the game for a period. That’s the price he paid.

However what is/was his new remit? I have never seen the job spec for the role which I understand was set out by the SFA and a head hunting firm in London to source the candidates.

I don’t know why and what reason he has gotten the role as he has never – to my knowledge- been known as a visionary/youth developer or indeed had a great understanding of grass roots game in Scotland having not played or managed here for nigh nearly 20 years…very baffling appointment by the SFA which again stacks up the utter idiocy of the organisation & how out of touch they are.

EDIT- Think Im right in saying Brian MCLair wrapped it due to death by power point…what are they playing at Hampden. :ffs:

think it goes back to what FB said - can't a job anywhere else and he's a cheap option.

Rumour is he was sick of power point(s) and presentations to men in blazers/suits.

That’s actually pretty genuine/concrete hence why he wrapped it.

Gig was not sold to him like that coming from Man U 's youth set up .

Embarrassing for that mob.

effing hell, I have always assumed the SFA are a race of really incompetent reptiles from outer space who ended up in the masons but this is a new low.

 I assumed that even the SFA weren't stupid enough to appoint a racist, sexist, homophobic arsehole in the high-profile role of leading the development of the game in Scotland.

An incredibly ill-judged appointment.
I tend to agree with you on this (and most things) but is there a point where he can atone for his actions or does this stick with him forever? Genuine question, because effed if I know.
Absolutely. However he shouldn't be pitched into a role where he's head of football for every level in the country, where his remit will cover girls football, as well as encouraging minorities to be welcomed and participate in the game.

I'm guessing McKay has been appointed with a view to replacing Strachan when he finally decides he's fed up getting a paycheck for nothing.
