Tbh, I feel a bit ambiguous about the 'Well/Celtic row over the warmup location. Many people have remarked on the surprisingly high quality of the Fir Park pitch after many years of it being rightly described as a quagmire. So it's hard to fault their groundsman for trying to protect it after all the hard work of getting it to this point. and now we find that they were simply applying league rules by asking Celtic to move. It would seem from what McFadden is saying is that Davies could be the one in the wrong, but of course we don't know what was said to him and whether it was said in a an aggressive manner or as a respectful request. Brendan obviously had to support his assistant, but the whole thing is starting to sound a bit childish on our part, I'm sorry to say.

Edit:. Ambivalent not ambiguous.
I agree with this. The balance of the argument seems to be squarely in Motherwell's favour from what we've seen so far.
If Celtic were indeed flouting rules, consciously or unconsciously, someone at the club might need to get a grip. A proper professional approach to little regulatory details isn't an optional extra, it's a necessity.

I don't know what the consequences are for breaching this particular rule and I don't expect they'll be serious but it would be unwise to get into a habit of ignoring seemingly unimportant rules and regulations. There's a fair old list of clubs who have had victories overturned or found themselves disqualified from cup tournaments purely because nobody on the management team took sufficient care over paperwork.

If there are coaches at Celtic who aren't aware of the rules that Jim quoted then I'd have a slight worry that perhaps some other departments aren't on top of eligibility criteria or the latest updates on banned substances and so on.
I would be utterly utterly utterly effing astonished if we were deducted points for warming up in the wrong place
Yeah, I thought it was a bit of a stretch myself, along with the claim that it's a worry we maybe aren't fully aware of rules for eligibility criteria or banned substances.

I can fully understand the rule about where the goalkeepers should warm up, it's there for a reason and we should comply..
An apology is not a sign of weakness..

Do you think a goalkeeper should be warmed up by facing crosses and shots in front of a disabled section?

Just go for the old famous person apology, "We are really sorry you got offended, we hope you won't be offended in the future."

I wasn't at the game but was it the keeper warming up or the squad warming up firing shots in? Was it Gordon or Dorus in goals at the time?

Malky Mackay to be announced as SFA's Performance Director tomorrow, apparently.

Difficult to believe that the SFA could be any more incompetent, but this is an appalling decision.

If you leave aside his racist behaviour, I have absolutely no idea what he'll bring to the role at all. He's achieved the square root of eff all in youth football. He's achieved the square root of eff all at any level of football come to think of it

At least if (when) he's a disaster it should rule him out of contention for the Celtic job in the future :twitch:

 I assumed that even the SFA weren't stupid enough to appoint a racist, sexist, homophobic arsehole in the high-profile role of leading the development of the game in Scotland.

An incredibly ill-judged appointment.
