Terry Butcher has been named as they new manager of the Philippines national team.
Wee year or two in the sunshine, probably end up bouncing about the far east if he doesn't make an arse of it, like the old French and German boys in Africa. Beats Stevenage or the like.
That won't be the only bouncing he'll be doing there. :naught:

Leeds have confirmed the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa as their new head coach.
My gut feeling is that this won't last very long, but it should be fascinating to watch for however long it does.

I hope the hacks that are on the Leeds beat start rescheduling their days when he has press conferences. He sits and talks about football for hours.

I think the championship is a bad choice for Bielsa, who was my first pick for Celtic manager after Ronnie left. His football seems based on a relentless press, one that demands extreme physical fitness. This will be impossible to maintain over a championship season due to the number of matches. Unless he has a new system designed for this then I can't see Leeds being successful.

At face value Bielsa is an amazing get for Leeds, but for the reasons you've outlined I expect it to end badly too. The Championship is a meat grinder of a league ill-suited to his methods.

Predict Leeds to be top at Christmas, Bielsa to fall out with everyone as they plummet out of the top six, then end up getting his jotters around March.

Totally agree youroldpalmark. Bielsa is such an interesting manager, one i want to see do well, but i think he is best suited to either international management or to managing a super-club where he can mold the best talent into his vision of a footballer. El Loco indeed.

Bielsa failed miserably at Lille despite the owner giving him everything he wanted. He punted good players who then had a good season with their new club, recruited the players he wanted and they failed to impress despite their talent. Lille even built individual luxury bungalows in their training centre upon request from Bielsa to let players have a nap between two training sessions.

Bielsa was also very arrogant in press conferences and disrespectful towards smaller clubs. He blamed Guingamp manager for having the cheek to have a game plan to nullify his tactics. A fud. Exactly what Leeds deserves.

Leeds have confirmed the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa as their new head coach.
This will either end in them winning the Champions League in 3 years or him leaving after fighting the chairman in a few months.

Bielsa’s had a pretty miserable last five years, hence the reason he’s now looking for jobs in the English second tier. Might not be a bad time to manage Leeds though as the Championship isn’t looking terribly strong next season so promotion spots are wide open.

...to be replaced by Stevie G, who will have 'been resigned' by then.
