Caldwell is far too big a name for the St Mirren job.
Given that he was sacked by Chesterfield in September after taking them down to League 2 and setting in motion a season that would see them relegated out of the football league altogether, I'm not sure that you're right with that assessment.

Lampard linked with the Derby job. Sensible job for him.

Lampard plays football then does some punditry, recommended for a job managing an English league team, Derby.

Gerrard plays football, then does some punditry, manages Liverpool U18's and gets to manage rangers, the third best team in Scotland.

John Kennedy 11/2 third favourite for the St. Mirren job with Murty 14/1.
Nice to see that Murty's experience of managing a top flight team has held him in good stead.

BUDDIES RACE Celtic coach John Kennedy is shock name among favourites to become St Mirren boss – with ex-Hearts boss Robbie Neilson frontrunner
Ex-Hoops defender Kennedy, 34, is third favourite with Ladbrokes, with Jim Goodwin, David Hopkin and Danny Lennon also in the mix
Spoiler: click to toggle
Goodwin has to be s right good bet. Bit of a punt for them but ticks the boxes of ex-player and cheap.

Chelsea attempting once more to appoint an attacking, progressive coach in Sarri.

They should just realise they're destined to be a defensive, cynical, pishy club and get Simeone in.
