Arsenal to appoint Unai Emery according to the BBC. Announcement set for later this week.

Didn’t see that coming at all.
They must have stopped drinking / taking drugs at the Emirates - very good call!

Jack Ross at Sunderland for talks, twice in a couple of weeks he's been offered jobs in England. I hoped he'd have at least 1 season in the SPFL.
Surely he wouldn't be daft enough to take that job.

They must be good enough to come straight back up.....Blackburn did it this year...if run correctly they should also be perfectly capable of challenging at the correct end of the Championship .... new owner....significant increase in his own salary ( possibly tenfold?? )

Can see why he’s interested in hearing what they have to say.....given he’s said “no” to Barnsley and also presumably Ipswich, he seems to have his head screwed on the right way

Emery has pedigree in both the Europa League and being hilariously gubbed by Barcelona in the Champions League knockouts.

Match made in heaven.

That would be an unnervingly sensible appointment :hmmm:
Considerably better appointment than Arteta would be. Arsenal fans should be delighted.

Pellegrini to West Ham confirmed.

Looks like Gary Rowett from Derby to Stoke. A strange one on the face of it, but as per usual with Derby I don't think everything is well behind the scenes.

Emery was decent at Valencia but never really exceeded expectations, much like Arsenal during the later Wenger years - prior to things really taking a bad turn around two years ago. He was pish at Spartak. Did very well at Sevilla winning those Europa leagues but wasn't able to kick on in the Champions League - which they showed they can do this season.

Then at PSG he somehow managed to lose the league in his first year which is an astonishing failure given their budget. And this year his side under performed in Europe as well. Didn't come across as a particularly strong leader during the Cavani/Neymar episode either. He's certainly a better appointment than Arteta, but I'd be pretty disappointed with this if I was an Arsenal fan.

Dortmund appoints Lucien Favre, who had just announced he was leaving Nice. A good choice, I think.

Emery lost the league in his first year to a very good Monaco team, managed by an excellent coach. QSG were favourite, obviously, but they improved under Emery and they lost to a better team.

I read somewhere that Arteta withdrew from the running due to concerns about the final say on transfers and/or funds available. He would have been a big punt on Arsenal's part, to say the least.

They've changed the full structure. Already employed backroom staff. Arsenal will have head coaches for the foreseeable, til they sign Mourinho when he's 72.

It's all the fashion employing untried managers, Stevie G being the prime example
