Stop agitating like you are Real Madrid, like you won't tolerate failure when it is all you have known for the vast majority of your entire existence.

Complains about arrogance. Retorts with the most arrogant remark in the thread.
:ponder: Not one mention of the words in any of my posts on this?

They've won four trophies since forever. They did it with managers that had been at the club for a decent period of time.

They've got David Gold, David Sullivan and Lady Brady pulling the strings. I'll leave you to consider who might be better covered by the 'arrogant' label.

I'd say that for some fans of English teams, playing in the EPL and staying there is the level of their ambition and they are not fussed about the style of play.

Some will just want to be involved figuring its better to have city, utd, liverpool, tottenham etc come to visit than be in a dogfight in the championship.

Wouldn't be my view, but I can see the argument.

Moyes did keep them there though. As did Allardyce with Everton. Both sets of fans certainly seemed fussed about the way they played.

Who the eff cares about trophy count? They aren't asking to be serial visitors to Wembley.

They just want to turn up every second week and be entertained. That doesn't seem like too ridiculous a request.

The fans want those three worst carrots gone too, btw.

There were entertained under Bilic, were they not? Then...all of a sudden it seems they weren't.

Fickle bastards, they don't know what they want most of the time.

Because he started effing about with certain things and they started to go into free fall.

We should be the last support to be having a go at anyone. We punted a guy that won 3 out of the 6 possible trophies available to him and took us into Europe post Christmas.

Arsenal to have talks with Arteta on Thursday over managers job. Can see that ending well
Would be a bonkers appointment. Any club of stature appointing as manager someone who has never held the top job and have just a limited amount of coaching experience is asking for trouble.

And I include our appointment of Lenny in that assessment.
Has anyone said Pep yet :ph43r:

I thought Barca were bonkers appointing him when they did, when Mourinho was available shows what I know
Pep inherited an established winning squad and footballing philosophy. One that he was fully integrated into. Still a risk, but fairly well mitigated. It gave him the opportunity to establish himself and it all worked out well.

Arsenal have high profile players who will need to be managed, no winning mentality, will see a change in their approach whoever comes in and the next manager, whoever that is, will be lucky to see out the season if it is not a success. Bonkers for a club if that stature to take a risk like Arteta.

Of course, once in a while these risks pay off, but the other 99% of the time....

He inherited better players but Barcelona had nosedived big time in Rijkaard last 2 seasons.

His first act was to punt Deco & Ronaldinho which were huge calls & bring a new mentality to the team.

I think history has been rewritten (not by you) that underestimates the mess Barcelona were in when Pep took over.

It's like all those Charlton fans who wanted rid of Curbishley so they could get someone to take them to the next level.
to be fair, the dozen or so managers they've had in the last 10 years have certainly taken them to another level

my own favourite is the aston villa fans who wanted martin o'neill out after 3 consecutive sixth-placed finishes because they wanted to break into the champions league places

If only we had KDS around in 1996, i’d love to read back on some of the reactions to a bespectacled French guy from Japan getting the Arsenal gig.

Ron Atkinson would have been the safer bet.

A guy who was on a one year rolling contract and got two full seasons in the job. And who openly talked about not enjoying the exposure that came with being the Celtic manager particularly in his second season, to the extent that it affected him and his performance.

Reports suggest West Ham want to replace Moyes with Benitez. A solid coach, but they may be waiting a while to be entertained.

The guy who had six seasons as the manager of Monaco, winning the League, a couple of other third place finishes and a Cup Final appearance?

Given Arsenal had finished 10th, 4th, 12th and 5th in the four full previous seasons, they probably thought themselves quite lucky I'd imagine, given their previous manager was that pudding Bruce Rioch.

Don't think it's unreasonable for West Ham/Everton fans to want better for their clubs - whether it be in the form of a higher league finish or more attractive football.

We're on course for a double treble yet there's been moaning on here (myself included) about the performances this season.

I'm sure if you asked Man City fans/PSG fans/Barcelona fans about their seasons they'd say it's been great domestically but European performances/results could've been better.

As long as it's coupled with realism I don't see the issue.

Yet ‘Arsene Who?’ cried the Evening Standard. As did almost everyone else from what I remember.

May be the French League wasn’t widely watched in the uk in the 1980s and 90s?

Pep is a bit of an extreme & Incorrect example of no experience & being a success...

He literally had been at Barca since 9 years old....played all/most of his days at Nou Camp...did his apprenticeship for3 or 4 years at Barcelona B and then went into the job.

Arteta has not even picked a team ffs.

As per bonkers appointment if true.

Tears will be at the end of it

If you looked at a list of the top 30 richest clubs in European football most of them would be English. If you compiled a similar list looking at the actual best teams most of them wouldn’t be English. That’s why their supporters are getting so impatient. They’re paying 5-star money for a 3-star service. The sad thing is, they seem to think chucking more cash at the problem will make things better.
