Would Lennon fancy a crack at Aberdeen if McInnes goes? How much bigger is their budget? I'd say that after the summer, Aberdeen will have the better squad.

I doubt it.

He's about as popular in Aberdeen as Mark McGhee is.

Haha. Fair enough. I think after McInnes, unless they went for Jack Ross or somebody completely outside the box, Lennon is probably one of their better options so maybe they'd get over their personal dislike of him.

I don't give a toss if Neil Lennon looses it now and again. He is a Celtic man through and through. Do supporters forget the personal and physical attacks this man had to endure just because he was a Roman Catholic Northern Irishman managing Celtic. :ffs:
Just Irish

Lennon would be daft to leave Hibs. I know they're due to lose a lot of their better players in the summer, but if they get some half decent money for the ones that can be sold (McGinn being the obvious one, they should absolutely hold out for at least £4m for him) then he'll have a bit of money to bring some players with the right attitude in.

More to the point, I don't see where he'd go that would be a better fit for him just now. He doesn't seem like the sort to go and manage abroad, and managing one of the many nondescript English clubs is hardly an attraction. Right now his stock isn't high enough for one of the better teams in the English Championship to look at him, let alone the EPL. If he can rebuild Hibs and keep them in the top four for the next season or two, plus maybe a cup run, then I think he'll have more interesting suitors.

As things stand he's seen down south as someone who won the SPL a few times practically by default and got lucky once or twice in the CL, then failed miserably at Bolton (regardless of the circumstances there). He needs to show that he can consistently punch above his weight with limited resources if he wants a decent job in England. Otherwise he'll just end up flitting between the likes of Barnsley and Coventry for the next 20 years.

I know eff all about his contract situation, all I know is that Hibs apparently valued him at £4m when we were supposedly interested in him.

Whatever they value him at now, I hope they get it. Just not from us ;)

Totally agree. I like him but 4m

I'd feel we were robbed, if we paid anywhere near that amount for him.

1.5m-2m max, possibly toss them Scott Allan as a sweetener.

Although as others have said, he would be in the squad now if BR rated him as highly as the media seem too.

The thing is is, one need only look at DDV, Gamboa, Hendry, Commper, Musonda and possibly Kouassi and Hayes to see that Brendan is far from infallible when it comes to deciding what players are good enough for Celtic. I'm aware that he's not the only one making these decisions, but the point still stands. Fortunately he more than makes up for it with all his other qualities, but it's been his biggest weakness as our manager so far.

I like McGinn a lot and would gladly take him for £1/2 million. But I think you're right. If it was going to happen it likely would have already. If he does go elsewhere then I hope it's not another McCarthy situation.

Bit of a blow for St. Mirren if they lose Jack Ross after being promoted to the SPL. Good opportunity for Ross himself after he turned St. Mirren around and got promotion and fair play to them for not trying to hold him back but big disappointment for them if he leaves just as they get back to the big league.

I doubt it.

He's about as popular in Aberdeen as Mark McGhee is.
My dad is a huge fan of the Sheep and lives in Aberdeen. He wanted Lennon to replace McInnes when it looked like he might join Sevco. Probably won't happen but I think Lennon would do well there.

Tells you all you need to know about Aberdeen that their fans would apparently rather have Tommy Wright as their next manager than Neil Lennon.
