He's joining in the summer because we're in the Champions League Final and he's thinking 'eff that, I'm away to watch it with BT Sports'.

I guarantee if we weren't in Kiev in a few weeks, he'd have started as their boss now. He puts Liverpool before everything, always has and always will. Can't see it lasting.
If they started him just now and he got horsed in his first 3 games the feel good factor would have taken a hit before all of the season ticket renewals were in. They now have 2 whole months before he needs to show any sort of managerial ability.
That's true, I think Stevie is under estimating the SPL here. He'll probably bring in a few of our youngsters/fringe players and think thats enough to at least cement 2nd/challenge Celtic in a few games.

There's a few players I can see going up there on loan, could pick a few out of;

Grujic
Ings
Solanke
Curtis Jones
Mignolet?!
Would Liverpool not be looking to offload a lot of them ?

Ings, Mignolet would surely be better off sold especially as rangers will only pay - at best - half their wages ? And I would be very surprised if England international Solanke decided to head up north.

I cannot believe the stupidity of the man, his advisors or the Hun hoards. No managerial experience bar Under 18s, apparently no budget, although I am sure he has been promised the earth, and a squad of loanees and deadbeats. Great appointment - for us!

Don't know how close he was to joining us but our interest was before he made his England debut. I think if he wants to get a recall he 'd only get it by staying down south

You can only have 4/5 loan players..? Building a first team comprising of 50% loans wouldn’t work.

Think you can have as many foreign loans as you want.

They'll blow most of the budget on an old English fella or two and prop it up with huns and Liverpool weans on loan.

Lenny, Clarke, Levein and McInnes will be wanting to put him in his place as well. Next year's going to be smashin. Should loosen the board a bit too, will want to make sure there's no possibility of embarrassment.

A huge welcome to football management Mr Steven Gerrard M.B.E., I sincerely look forward to your swift and certain progress to join the hall of legends of management.

Bryan Robson - M'boro, Bradford, WBA, Thailand.

Alan Shearer - Newcastle.

Paul Ince - Blackburn, MK Dons,

Tony Adams - Wycombe, portsmouth.

Maradona - Argentina

Souness - Liverpool, Fenerbache, Southampton, Newcastle.

Gascoigne - Kettering, Boston Utd.

Boby Charlton - Preston North End.

John Barnes - Celtic, Tranmere.

I suspect Gerrard is being happily used to attract as yet untapped areas of potential finance.

He is cut out to be a very famous has been who will be a never was.

Bon voyage mon brave. Not.

In other words you are just bitter about the English.

Solanke is pish.
He's alright, unfair to say he's not good. Must be daunting for a youngster to come in and play in our front 3, he needs a run of games and I think the SPL would be great for him.

Not buying the other commitments pish.

Sky didn’t hold a gun to Neville’s head when he went to Valencia & I doubt BT would demand SG stays in the job.

A replacement coach would be found no problem for Pools U18s.

A top coach would surely want to come in and secure second place.

The league finishes next weekend and I’d hazard a guess that Gerrard hasn’t even heard of half the guys he’s inheriting. Not a chance that he’d be in charge of the next three games.

“I have regrets I didn’t start my coaching badges at 21-22. All that time wasted in hotels as an England player when I’ve been bored and was watching ‘The Office’ and ‘The Sopranos’. I wish I’d done my CBA (coaching) licence then so I’d be doing my pro-licence now. I know many players get to the end of their careers, get handed a thick C licence pack and say, ‘Nah, I’m not doing that.’ That’s 70/80 caps and 600 career appearances and he is just going nah.”

Steven Gerrard.

Agree, it would be absolutely mental if they put him in charge for the remainder of this season.

Even the huns aren’t that daft.

They could potentially kill any of their feel good vibes from this appointment by letting him take charge now. They will let it ride into the close season and maximise their season book sales.

Fair point but he will most likely have European qualifiers just around the corner.

Perhaps he will have some kind of input.

Another good point, mate.

If it went pear shape and they didn’t get 2nd under Gerrard then he could be done before he has even started.

SG is interesting appointment. Will certainly raise profile of Scottish football in places like Sky. Could make it easier for us to attract players. Will also certainly sell season tickets for them. I know a couple of guys who were talking about not renewing who will certainly now.

Murty was called by every SPL manager this week and they were all of the opinion that he had been shafted, many of them thinking,by a club in last throw of the dice mode. Our manager spent 3 hours with Murty. Just talking everything football.

( absolute solid source )

We have a very decent human being at the helm of our club.
