Gerrard joining the Huns is good news all round, completely inexperienced manager with no knowledge of Scottish football but who will bring a spotlight to the league and provide an intriguing narrative next season.

Never liked Stevie G much anyway, his captain fantastic act at Liverpool always annoyed eff out of me.
Kinda how I feel. He will increase the exposure of the game up there and that is a good thing.

If he can convince a few decent players to go on loan then he can improve them easily enough. His name carries more clout than Murty anyway. If he thinks he can challenge us next season I reckon he will have massively underestimated Hibs and Killie.

I don’t even care if they improve slightly, it’s hard to envisage when they could be stronger or more relevant than us again, even if or when they do win a title.

The more exposure the SPL can get, then bigger and better names will always come to us first.

Not exactly commital. I'd still be surprised.

“Initial” talks.

Still don’t see it happening

If it does happen either he is a thicko or Sevco have found an unfeasibly large amount of money down the back of the couch.

It's the shouts for "Dave King needs to back him properly"...they've clearly been paying attention.

Sounds to me like he'll be there next season. What a mug
Yep. Sounds like he wants the job. The dumb effer.

Unless the huns do something spectacularly incompetent it looks like he'll be their next permanent manager.

 just

With a little dash of :notmissingthis:

And most likely followed by lashings and lashing of :hahaleft: :lolhuns: :haharight:

It looks to me as if it’s all but been agreed but just my reading into it. What seems so strange is there must have been assurances of money to spend but we all know there if eff all. Is this guy really that thick?

Totally unknown quantity, so I'm loathe to jump to any conclusion that he will be like another Pedro; he could well organise and develop the existing players to be a better standard. However, unless they are planning an Ocean's 14-esque heist I cannot see how they can afford much better than what they have. It would take a severe drop-off (even more than this year) in performances from us, allied with them finding better form over the whole year, for them to close the gap.

And even then, that would remind me of Aberdeen the year before last - pretty good but just not able to do it against Celtic.

If they actually came out and said, "this is a three year improvement project - Gerrard is here to implement a large-scale, fundamental change to our football operations, and we want to consolidate 2nd place and a real return to Europe for the next couple of seasons (so forget about winning the league right away)" then that would make sense. But, huns.

I really can’t understand someone with Gerrards profile even entertaining the huns or wanting to be associated with them, he’s bound to have people around him that have looked into the huns and would tell him to steer well clear. You don’t even have to scratch beneath the surface to see that mob are an absolute shambles, going by the comments linekar just made when the Scottish games flashed up on screen about him doing his homework, it sounds like he’s told them he’s taking it. Folk starting to report that Gerrard has agreed.
 One massive stride towards 10.
Be interesting to see what financial assurances have been given under the circs.
Probably whatever SG wants to hear, but paid in tranches over the next 25 years, with Wonga as their main sponsor paying them feck all.

Indeed.

If he does take it and starts to fail in the job then the undoubted avalanche of sectarian bile that will come his way will only show the Huns up once again on the wider stage for what they really are.

I'm just working on the basis it's become tradishunal for the Tribute Act to have 3 managers \ season.

The Gardener, MacDowell, McCall.

Warbiola, Murty, Caxinha.

Caxinha, Murty, now Nicol.

But it could be
AN Other, Administrati, Liquidatoire

The very thought of Gerrard standing in the freezin pishin rain, 2-0 down to Hibs at home and trying to shout tactical instructions to Pena and Morelos over the boos, live on BT Sports.
