GRAEME MURTY has this morning been relieved of his duties as manager of Rangers.
Jimmy Nicholl and Jonatan Johansson will take charge of the team for the three remaining matches of the season.
Rangers are grateful to Graeme, who did not hesitate when asked last October to become interim manager after the departure of Pedro Caixinha and then, at the turn of the year, when he was offered the role as manager until the end of the season.
Graeme has had to contend with difficult and challenging circumstances but conducted himself in a thoroughly professional manner. He will take some time to consider his options, which include returning to his role at the Rangers Academy.
Jimmy Nicholl and Jonatan Johansson have already started preparing the team for the match against Kilmarnock on Saturday and they will be in place for the two remaining fixtures, against Aberdeen and Hibernian.
The club hopes to be in a position to comment further on the managerial situation in the near future.

Going on those comments from Gerrard it's as good as done.
I don't think it's as clear cut. I'm sure there will be loads going on behind the scenes, some of which might put Gerrard off them.

It's a win-win either way. He knocks them back - we laugh. He takes it - we'll laugh even more.

McInnes knows how to beat the rest . If they had half a brain with the limited resources available he was their best chance of atleast beating the others first . Gerrard with absolutely no managerial experience, no clue about Scottish football is a crazy dangerous road to take. Fantastic for us because in my opinion title no 8 in a row is a nailed on certainty . And the cost of the Stevie G experiment may win title 9 + 10
Agree with this was glad Mcinnes said no to them with a bit more quality in his Aberdeen team last year they might have beat us in the cup final, and as you say he can beat the other teams in the league which Murray mob can’t .

Are The Rangers trying to force his hand by sacking the interim manager, or has Gerrard whooshed them to add Murty to the Anfield youth setup?

If they had brought in Clarke Inwould have been mildly concerned because he obviously knows his stuff. Stevie G on the other hand could be absolutely brilliant....................... for us
Looking forward to him knutting some clown like Halliday because he can’t do what the manager wants in training

The smile said it all. He will be announced on Thursday or Friday. He will give them a wee lift over the summer and will probably get off to a good start and we will be hearing how great everything is. Busted flush by February next year.

Looks to me as if he's taking it

His ego driving this with Hun mccallister as no 2

Usual promises which mcinnes didn't fall for but stevie g does and they're probably even more ridiculous :cuckoo:

As it stands he'll be joining a loss-making club with no access to banking facilities who's chairman is still being cold-shouldered and is awaiting the outcome of the TOP interdict. So, where's the 'war chest' going to come from? He may well get 2-3 loanees from Liverpool but Liverpool aren't going to gut their youth system to bail-out Sevco and Sevo need way more than 2-3 quality players.

Gerrard joining the Huns is good news all round, completely inexperienced manager with no knowledge of Scottish football but who will bring a spotlight to the league and provide an intriguing narrative next season.

Never liked Stevie G much anyway, his captain fantastic act at Liverpool always annoyed eff out of me.

He'll need more than a captain fantastic act at the crumbledome. Bring him on, he'll learn the hard way.
