Id be very surprised if Arsenal want Rodgers. As others have said their fans would go mental. They will want a big name European manager. I don’t think Arsenal fans have the emotion ‘mental’ available. They are quite good at tutting loudly and have been known to downgrade their halftime skinny latte from grande to tall in an act of open defiance.
Also, the Arsenal board have never struck me as giving much of toss what their very polite fans think. As long as they keep stumping up £1200 for a season ticket all is rosey.

Who could replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager?
Spoiler: click to toggle Arsene Wenger has announced that he will resign as manager of Arsenal Football Club at the end of the season. The Frenchman joined Arsenal in 1996 and in his time in charge, he won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups. He also has the chance to add the Europa League to his list of honours before he leaves in the summer. For the first time in over two decades, Arsenal will be looking for a new manager this summer, but who is in line to take over at the Emirates? We’ve taken a look at some possible candidates. Thierry HenryArsenal’s record goalscorer spoke a few weeks ago, confirming his interest in potentially becoming Arsenal manager in the future. Coaching under Roberto Martinez with the Belgium international squad, Henry has no managerial experience but there aren’t many men who know the ins and outs of the club better than their record goalscorer. Thomas TuchelTuchel made a huge impression at Borussia Dortmund during his two seasons at the club, winning the German Cup in his final season. After leaving Dortmund last summer to take some time out of the game, Tuchel wants a return to management next season and Arsenal could be an option. However, he’s known for not being on good terms with with former Dortmund man Sven Mislintat, who’s now heading up the Gunners’ recruitment.Tuchel has been heavily linked with the PSG job but now Wenger is resigning, a move to a top Premier League club could interest him. Carlo AncelottiAncelotti is a vastly experienced coach, winning league titles with Milan, Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich as well as winning one of his three Champions League titles with Real Madrid – he has the pedigree to be the next Arsenal manager. Currently out of work and eager to return to the Premier League, he could be targeted. Patrick VieiraVieira is an Arsenal legend, spending nine years at the club, winning three Premier League titles during that spell. Not a vastly experienced coach, Vieira has been taken under the City Football Group’s wing after finishing his career at Manchester City, spending two years in charge of their EDS side before taking the reigns at New York City FC, where he’s enjoyed an impressive couple of years. Eddie HoweBournemouth boss Eddie Howe is being touted as the next great English manager. His team plays attractive football and he’s clearly an impressive man but his lack of experience when it comes to winning big trophies could count against him. Diego SimeoneDiego Simeone has reinvented Atletico Madrid as a perennial challenger in La Liga and has even achieved a great deal of European success, guiding Atletico to the Europa League crown in his first season at the club while also reaching two Champions League finals in the last seven years. There’s always talk of a rift between Simeone and the powers that be at Atletico and the opportunity to take control of Arsenal may be too good to turn down. Massimiliano AllegriAllegri was touted to replace Wenger after last season but he decided to stay put at Juventus after winning a third successive Serie A title. The Italian has also reached the Champions League final twice with Juventus, illustrating his top managerial pedigree which makes him a fine candidate. He recently confirmed he is looking at other roles so Arsenal could be the perfect landing spot for him Luis EnriqueThe former Barcelona manager is unattached after taking a year out of the game following a successful three years at the Nou Camp where he won nine major honours including two La Liga titles and the Champions League. Linked with the Chelsea job also, Enrique looks set to return to management next season and Arsenal should look to recruit him. Antonio ConteAntonio Conte has been a successful manager wherever he’s been, winning the Serie A three times with Juventus before securing the Premier League title in his first season as Chelsea manager last season. Enduring a rough spell with the Blues this time around, Conte is looking increasingly likely to leave the club in the summer and Arsenal should look at the serial winner. Brendan RodgersCeltic manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly on Arsenal’s shortlist of candidates. He took Liverpool as close as they’ve ever been to a Premier League title and his Celtic side have dominated Scottish football since the day he arrived. He has quashed the rumours, but you’d expect that with football still to play this season. Mikel ArtetaMikel Arteta is being nurtured by Pep Guardiola to become the next great manager. If Arsenal can’t beat Pep, they might as well look for the next best thing, right? https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/premier-league/who-could-replace-arsene-wenger-as-arsenal-manager/ss-BBJBzJe?MSCC=1524247877&ocid=spartanntp&parent-title=ars%C3%A8ne-wenger-to-leave-arsenal-at-end-of-the-season&parent-ns=ar&parent-content-id=AAw5Wx2&fullscreen=true#image=1

Bit like Man U's troubles after Fergie - difficult to move on from a dynasty & anyone coming in only likely to do a few seasons. London and the cash a draw though.
I've had a £5 on Rafa Benitez for interest - wont be overawed there, CL winner with Loonypool & EL/Uefa Cup with Chelsea/Valencia. Steady hands for 2/3 seasons to lay some new foundations

I would laugh my ass off if they went for Vieira, Henry or Arteta.
I had the impression the board wanted Arsenal to spend big and match the others but he never did. I wouldn't right off a Simeone type. Almost the opposite of Wenger. More pragmatic than idealistic.
Left field would be Lucien Favre.
Conte, Allegri or Ancelotti would be a disaster.

Another angle to all this is, what will Wenger do? It seems he doesn't plan on retiring and wants to stay in management.

France job might be available after the World Cup. Deschamps contract has been extended until 2022. The personal bond between the FFF president and him should keep him in the job no matter the result. The only other candidate would be France national god. Zidane has a clause in his Real Madrid contract allowing him to take France job.
As Arsenal manager and French TV pundit, Wenger has annoyed enough people in France staff to rule himself out of job.
By the way, I've heard a lot of praise about Brendan Rodgers from France U21 coach, pleased with the development of Moussa and Ntcham and the good relation they have about the availability for international games.

Thought they were a bit too WATP thinking to imagine someone wanting a break clause in their own favor. Do you reckon he'd do well as France coach? I know you're no his biggest fan as a coach, but do you reckon he'd do better than DD?
