I think the Arsenal situation post-Wenger could actually be the opposite of United and Ferguson.

It feels like it just needs a quality coach to give them a bit more drive, fix the glaring soft centredness, and they can be made potential challengers. There is no shortage of money around the Emirates to make that happen.

Always had a soft spot for Arsenal, Wenger changed the face of english football. Part of me will be sad to see him go but delighted it's on his terms and Arsenal can get a fresh start

Nothing will happen, and Arsenal will become like all the rest. He'll be back in 18 months when some Spanish boy has them 14th at Christmas.

How is Vieira doing in the States anyway?

At least he’d know they lack leadership & muscle in the middle of the park!

BR will be linked with this job but I'm not sure his philosophy would suit what Arsenal need right now. They'd be better served with a more defensive-minded manager IMO.

Thank eff. Only 10 years too late. Look at the damage he has caused. No longer a top 4 team at the moment and only 1 person responsible
Aye, I'm heartbroken.

Wenger seems to be suggesting Patrick Vierra as his replacement.
No chance Patrick Vierra gets the job.

Patrick Vieira maybe.

Wenger stepping down at the end of the season. Finally!
I have a fear they will come for Brendan.
As I said in the BR thread, I can't see Arsenal or Chelsea going down the British route for a coach.

Tuchel to PSG and Emery to Arsenal. If they had any sense they'd burst the bank for Simeone but I'm not sure he'd go

He revolutionised not only Arsenal Football Club but also English Football. Sad to see him go in a way and I'm not an Arsenal fan by any means.

Wenger was some manager back in his day. That Arsenal team with Pires, Henry, Ljungberg etc were just incredible and contributed to some really exciting title battles with Man Utd and winning a few along the way.

Vieira's NYC FC are top of the Eastern conference, unbeaten in seven games. Last week, l'Equipe claimed he was Pep Guardiola's long term replacement at Manchester City.

That's one way of looking at it. Another would be that he has done remarkably well to keep them as a top 4 club as long as he has. He oversaw a squad that continually done just that whilst overseeing a stadium build, meanwhile the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea and now Man City have been able to massively overspend him in terms of both fee's and wages. They've in fact mostly been allowed to cherry pick his best players over the years because Arsenal couldn't (or wouldn't) pay the wages.

His time has definitely been up for a few years now, but I don't think it should tarnish the job he has done with Arsenal, both the glamorous and unglamorous parts.

Damage? Seriously man, that's bonkers.

Looking at his record, Wenger has been in charge for twenty two years. In that time he's won 3 titles, 7 FA cups and 7 Community Shields. He's got his team to the Champions League final and the Europa League final. He's the most successful manager in FA cup history and qualified for the Champions League - I think - on fourteen consecutive occasions. He might very well win the Europa League this year, giving Arsenal only their third European title ever.

He's probably the greatest manager they've ever had.

He had a few cracking seasons, binned the boring, boring arsenal tag and apparently built the emirates with his own bare hands, but I fail to see how exactly he revolutionised English football?

It’s just a meaningless platitude that’s going to be regurgitated for the next month or two until it becomes fact.
