The BBC did a documentary as he led Thistle to promotion to the SPL in 2001/2002.

Grasping the Thistle well worth a watch.

First time I heard that 'tell him he's Pele' one was with him.

I mind that Tourette's documentary he featured in too.

Younger than I thought, he seemed as if he was in his 70s in the 90s.

Great character of a sort lost to football.

Yeah, a few of my mates are Thistle fans & have some stories on that front.

Still, not going to hold that against him - was always a right character & I thought his chat was brilliant.

RIP.

He was a Hun alright. From Whitburn I'm sure. Think he was more of a fitbaw man tbh. In fact he might've been the Hamilton Accies manager that knocked them out the cup yon time in the 80s.

I know a couple of boys that have played for him and some of the stories are funny as eff.

There's a KDSer that played for him at Thistle and may have a few anecdotes.

Was mad for his doos as well and had a dookit.

RIP

As Swavbhoy has pointed out he was definitely a Hun but certainly not the rabid bitter kind.

A normal down to earth guy who loved his fitbaw and pigeons.

Think he stood for election for the SNP at one point.

Not too many characters like that in the game these days.

He certainly was a character. As has been mentioned earlier he was responsible for the famous Pele quote - for those who haven't heard it one of his players was down injured with a head injury and another player came up to him and said "Boss he doesn't know who he is" and Lambie's response was "tell him he's Pele and to get on with it"

He was also (indirectly) responsible for one of my favourite put downs in a newspaper fans comment section when a Thistle fan wrote that he was fed up hearing Lambie coming out with "we will learn from this defeat" after yet another defeat and the fan then stated that Thistle must therefore be the most knowledgeable team in football!

He was also called a "balloon" by a caller on a Radio Side phone in.

A new player met him for the first time in the Thistle dressing room and Lambie started chatting to him whilst sticking a suppository up his arse at the same time. Industrial.

I remember someone telling me that the machine the BBC use to bleep swear words broke because of Lambie. It’s one of those tongue in cheek comments that sounds kinda plausible.

Mick McCarthy leaves Ipswich. Was meant to be going at the end of the season but he’s had enough of the fans.
