Surely it's the end of the merry go round that sees these same guys appointed to get clubs out of bother every season?

Carvalhal seemed like a mad appointment at the time, but look at the difference he's made at Swansea. Also, Watford never go for a "safe" pair of hands & they're fine.

West Brom have stole the same number of Taxis as Premier League wins under Pardew.

Tremendous stuff.

Not that he was doing a particularly great job at the time, but they wouldn't have gone down under Pulis IMO.

To replace him with a far worse manager was astounding.

Pardew is such a despicable character, so this is delightful. Only downside is more reward for failure.
similar with stoke. they were on a terrible run but i think hughes would have scraped them to safety or at least had a better chance than lambert

I think he likes being paid so that rules the huns out. He'll end up at a championship club like Ipswiich/Preston.

An arrogant chancer who has hopefully been run out of town for the last time. I’ll always remember him bad mouthing Pelligrini during a match. That was the absolute pits.

I get the dislike for Pardew but nothing against West Brom. Few WBA fans that I know seem decent enough. Wolves are much worse.

Agreed.

I still can’t fathom what Stoke were thinking there.

When you sack a manager & appoint a worse one, you really are asking for trouble!

Symptomatic of the types of owners we have in football these days, particularly in the EPL. Plenty of front and money, but haven't got a Scooby about football.

Decent article on Watford's model and philosophy. Essentially the manager is just a cog in the machine and changing it doesn't bring the house down.

WBA looked doomed regardless of who comes in, Pardew shouldn't be getting another top flight job in the future.

These clubs made their move around the same time allardyce went in at everton. what they were hoping for - probably all they were hoping for - was the same dead cat bounce to propell them to safety. They never got it. Allardyce has since made a carrot of it at goodison park but he's done what he was brought into do - secure pl football - which is why they'll have paid him handsomely. It just hasn't paid off for stoke or west brom.

I'm not convinced any of these three were ever intended as long term appointments. Lambert was an odd one though, he doesn't really have a track record for doing the hit and run job they were looking for.
