If he left Burnley for Celtic he would've missed out on a £1mill bonus for getting them promoted

Adds a tad bit of substance to why he "knocked us back"
It turned out to be the best decision for Celtic, but definitely not for Owen Coyle. But it's hard to blame anyone for making a decision based on what he felt at the time was the right one for his family. I also have no reason to doubt his affinity to Celtic and neither does anyone else.
Aye. Didnt feel like at the time tho, and I actually think he'd have done a better job than Mowbray. But that led to the Lennon years and they were good for Celtic overall, with some top scouting and signings that are still contrubuting to the club's well-being today. Not sure Coyle would have brought that.

Coyle also had concerns about the limited spending budget back in 2009. It seems an awful long time since he was 'on the up' and could be concerned with things like that. He'd pull Lawwell's hand off now for a job offer under any circumstances.

A specialist in mediocrity.
Doubt it would have turned out much differently. He might not have lost 4-0 to St Mirren, but he would have lasted less than a year and Lennon would probably still have taken over.

He has a point though. Mighty sevco have withstood the pressure cooker of title fights in League 2, League 1 and the Championship (twice) in recent seasons. We just can't compete with that experience.

Interesting times ahead.
Did he mention how his Huns team "withstood" the pressure of the play offs against Motherwell a few years back....I'm guessing probably not, without reading the article

Aye - Lennon was always going to get the job (and might do so again).

Apparently occasionally Lenny and Lambo didn't get on.

So I was told by one of the catering staff from MON era, who also confided to me that Henke would 'sometimes change his mind' regarding his order.

Lenny 'always had a can of coke or Irn Bru' tucked away despite it being banned.'

The flip side is that Sevco will also feel the pressure to win the league if they do beat us. Stupid fud that he is.

It is the way he's tuned. It's the repetition and it is annoying.

If he refers to the Premier League 5 times in one conversation he only needs to call it the Barclays Premier League once. Most people would call it the Premier League or the league thereafter.

Same if he mentions Celtic. We know he isn't talking about effin Stalybridge.

Which maybe explains why Deila had a rant about the players drinking Coke and Irn Bru under the previous regime after training, among other things, think tomato ketchup was one... :rocker:

Does the ‘Ross’ chairman want to find out if it is possible to kill a professional footballer with words?

What didn't add up was the way Deila droned on about that type of thing and being a 24 hour athlete etc etc but under his leadership Celtic often looked knackered after 60/70 minutes and/or faded late on in games :ponder:
Not sure what he made of Griffiths eating a Tunnocks Teacake when he was a sub that night at St. Mirren though
