That McRae would admit to being pally wally with the arsehole he appointed tells its own story.

Professional, competent, open organizations don't cut about telling everyone how they conveniently decided that their drinking buddy is the best man for the job, pyoor coincidence like.

He did an interview after it in which he said Celtic doing another treble would be bad for Scottish football.

The carrot is an arse.
As I said I'm not making a case for the guy - if you read my posts the exact opposite in fact. McLeish is a desperately poor appointment by two guys (Petrie in all) who are totally out of their depth.

But if I'd just watched my team lose an injury time goal to resulting in their second cup final defeat of the season, in all honesty I couldn't pretend I was having a good day.
He is the president of the SFA. Is a modicum of professionalism too much to expect ?

Richard Gordon on Sportsound is a sheepy, but he manages to appraise Celtic and congratulate them when we play well.

McRae is a bumbling idiot. His team of choice is irrelevant .

I mean it's clearly a terrible appointment made in a panic after O'Neill told them to bolt.

That said there's a few in here being a shade melodramatic.

Agreed
Disagree . You can't put into words how ridiculous, or nepotistic this decision is. No wonder people are going off on one.

Disappointed with the McLeish appointment, but not surprised.

Hopefully we are all wrong and during his lengthy hiatus from the game he has transformed into a blend of Shankly, Stein, Busby and Fergusson.

Stop laughing at the back.

Said it before, but I’d like a reason to take a (positive) interest in the national team. But with the arseholes in charge, McLeish and the preposterous appointment of Malky Mackay, I hope they get roundly humped in every game they play.

I went to all the Scotland games up until the last campaign, but Strachan sapped any enthusiasm I had left.

In many respects, I’m glad Big Eck has the job, so I don’t find myself thinking of going back.

McLeish, is a horrendous appointment but the reaction by some has by way over the top.

In what way ? A desperado appointed by his best mate.

The reactions are totally warranted.

LOL forgot about that
Failure to qualify not very unexpected though given the players available at that time

The EBT's, threatening imaginary folk who will come looking for his ill gotten medal haul, random semi incoherent television appearances, a dismal record since leaving the last time round and best mates with the President who following a scandalous sacking of a faithful, more successful Coach went on a wild goose chase only to appoint his buddy prior to replacing an abject failure of a CEO who should have been dealing with this appointment.

To be fair to the SFA, it was clear that they couldn't get it together to attract the candidates they really wanted. Candidates who might have been looked at when WGS was sacked, like Lambert, Moyes and Clarke, are in jobs now.

Big Feck was clearly near the bottom of a short and pretty poor list.

I don't expect us to qualify under him.

There are many sticks with which (metaphorically) to beat this guy with. Not looking like he was enjoying himself when we won last year's Cup Final isn't one of them IMHO.

A Georgia team that had a 16 year old who had never played before in goals and 5-6 youngsters as they didn't give a eff about the game and we still lost. effing useless

Sacking Strachan without any forward planning shows that these fannies should be hunted.
Anyone coming out in support of this appointment 3 full months later, is very easily pleased.
I hope all the Celtic players remove themselves from selection, discreetly if possible.

By way of comparison, when Feck went to the mighty Birmingham, he was in a job. Being in a job already shouldn't preclude an organisation from looking at a manager.

What you need to have is a plan, and a package that would entice someone from leaving their existing job. The SFA clearly had neither, so opted for good old fashioned cronyism.

What we don't know (we probably do though) is if they even asked anyone other than Michael O'Neill.
