I don't even think the hun angle is the riding force here. You only need to look at the nick of the carrots in charge, the state of that press conference the other day and the way the whole association is ran to know that anyone with half a brain who was asked just burst out laughing at them.

It’s been totally driven by McRae, getting one of his mates a job. It’s a short sighted and predictable apppointment, but also the idea that McLeish will just stop picking folk like Tierney is frankly ludicrous.
Not just McRae, you can bet the shirt on your back Ferguson had influence in this appointment too. Indirect influence of course.
Alex or Barry?

I think the SFA are to be congratulated on such a bold appointment. They have given a ray of hope to the many thousands of long term unemployed.

It doesn't matter if you've been sacked or mutually consented from your last 5 or 6 jobs.

It doesn't matter if you've been unemployed for a number of years.

It doesn't matter that in that time you've gone public about a number of jobs that you you would wish to be considered for and received no offers.

It doesnt matter that you were at best 3rd choice for the position.

Hell, it doesn't even matter that you previously walked out of the very job you are now accepting.

There is the right job out there for everyone (If you know the right people)

They wikl likely shoe horn a tim in there to appear impartial.
Probably Peter POinter so we can get even more depressed.
Back of the net :rocker:

Wouldn’t have taken Einstein to predict that right enough.

From Jock Stein with Fergie assisting, to the Cat and the Pointer.

Totally done with Scotland,

Abysmal fix.

This appointment is part of the ongoing EBT cover up.

McLeish needs to pay HMRC £900K for his EBT.

His 2 and a bit year contract at £400k p.a. almost exactly covers this quantum. How terribly convenient.

McLeish once admitted his teams gained a sporting advantage by EBTs.

Is this the price for him to shut the feck up and never admit this again?

Dodgy as feck,seriously dodgy.

Pished stained blazer n brogues jakeys doon the ludge. Even the goat was embarrassed at the shameless grift and corruption.
He will have to pay tax on his Scotland salary. That will not therefore have enough IF he is billed for the EBT>

If that's all true then why did they approach O'Neill first?

Old mates network.
McRae has know McLeish for 130 years.

Bungling SFA president Alan McRae drops another clanger as Alex McLeish is unveiled as Scotland manager
McRae suffered another embarrassing slip as McLeish was confirmed at Hampden today.

I just listened to the pumpkins interview on radio Scotland yesterday. It was full of pearls of wisdom that would have any Scottish player playing in our premiership strutting about with their chests pumped and egos flying high as a kite. Absolute gems like, the squad I had in my first shot was far better than this one and I have been watching the English premier ship which is a far superior league, he then goes on to drone on about how well Scottish players are playing in said league( who he means I don't know, Robertson for Liverpool? And ?) didn't mention anything about a single player in Scotland and then the dousey of them all when asked what are the so called improvements that he's made in his coaching he comes out with he's been studying throw ins and we are going to be brilliant at defending them. Come on Scotland let's get right behind this guy he's obviously some kind of savaunt genius and let's not forget he's been doon in Engurland.

I think it's fair to say there quite a few opinions around just now saying basically, if McLeish is the best the SFA can come up with, keeping Strachan on would surely have been a better option - to a rational person, which I suppose disqualifies most, if not all of the SFA blazers.
I think they had Michael O' Neill as their preferred choice, thinking he would want the job, but when he turned them down the ball was burst, hence McLeish.

I mean it's clearly a terrible appointment made in a panic after O'Neill told them to bolt.

That said there's a few in here being a shade melodramatic.

Not good enough for the Huns job, but good enough to be Scotland manager.

He’ll be sacked halfway through the next qualification campaign after it becoming mathematically impossible to ever qualify for another tournament ever again.
