McLeish has the best win to games ratio of any Scotland manager.

Interesting. Didn’t know that.
As negative as I felt about the appointment, I saw a good comment under nthe Scotsman article in which the person said we can sit and whinge as always or how about accepting it and giving our support to the national team?

Makes little difference who they appoint

Let's be frank.
Overall, Scotland aren't very good compared to other UEFA nations. And no significant signs of improvement.

We’ve binned a dreadful post which alluded to mental health issues.

This is something that has been increasing on here recently. Any future posts which we consider to have crossed the line (and yes, it’s an arbitrary one) will see the post trashed and the poster involved taking a very long break from the board.

Posting this in here, but it goes across the board. Engage your brain before you post, and consider that there may be hundreds of people reading your comments, all of whom have actual lives and experiences outside KDS.

Mcleish was a good man manager in his time but he is well past it now. A bizarre move by a corrupt, incompetent governing body.

Charlie Adams is in the papers praising the Mighty Eck and announcing that he wants to reignite his Scotland playing career. Pathetic.

McLeish will now be paraded at Hampden on Friday morning after agreeing a £400,000-a-year deal until the summer of 2020.
The appointment is a major victory for SFA vice-president Rod Petrie, who desperately wanted the ex-Hibs gaffer as Gordon Strachan’s successor once Michael O’Neill opted to stay with Northern Ireland.

https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/2236472/alex-mcleish-sfa-scotland-job-2020/
That’s the worrying thing, that that little creep Petrie won the day.

Imagine having THAT “move along” little bastard calling the shots.
And interesting that The Scum chose to declare the decision a "major victory" for Petrie, only days after Lawwell's subtle slap down...

10 games and secondly how long ago was that? 2007!!!

Over 10 years ago, its not relevant. Since then he managed Birmingham and took them down. Villa a disaster and is probably the most hated man in the West Midlands on both sides. Forest, Genk, Zamalak followed and neither of those were a success either. Yet somehow he matches the criteria for the Scotland job? That criteria must be unemployed, desperate for a job and loved by the hun media.

The guy hasn't achieved anything in football in a decade.

I would rather have seen £400k a year go to a younger coach who is actually doing something within the game.

If there's anything the national manager needs, it's goodwill to see him through the tough times.

McLeish hasn't a hope in hell unless he's an unqualified success from the beginning. He'll likely be a pariah as soon as he announces his first squad given how controversial that can be these days.

How long is Stevie Clarke's contract at Killie?

The last significant thing he has done in football is win the League Cup Final against Arsenal in 2011. Seven years ago to the month.

Relegated the same season, before inexplicably moving to Villa and making a complete backside of that.

Just occurred to me that his usual sidekick Andy Watson was assistant to Strachan, so no doubt that will continue. Expect plenty 4-5-1's and direct football, regardless of what actually seems to fit the type of players that are emerging for Scotland at the moment.

ticks a' the boxes like. great managerial career including, like Wattie, walking out on Scotland. a massive list of clubs whom he managed into oblivion including Motherwell, Hibernian
Rangers, Scotland national team,(1st time round) Birmingham City, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Genk, Zamalek (egypt)
The zamalek episode was the highlight of his carrer, they ran him out of town.
Nevertheless, presumably he is in the ludge, strategically placed on the right side of tangerine, managed the iconic Rangers oldco (in liquidation) and helped himself to a tax free wedge from the EBT fund whilst there.
A long catalogue of failure qualifies him for the job.....................................surely
