Big Feck?? Really?? If that's the best the SFA can come up with we're fecked.

I'll say it again.....would rather have kept WGS than this.
Big Eck is the best possible option. I mean, none of the available managers listed below are any better than him.

The best Scottish manager going is Steve Clarke. Is he being considered for the Scotland job?
A lot of folk would take him but he might see himself getting a bigger club job (Celtic??) if he keeps doing what he's doing.

Did Smith not make the initial to the SFA about the job? Now he's ruling himself out :ponder:

Whatever happened, you can be sure it's not Smith's fault.

All this Scotland manager stuff, does anyone have any suggestions a little bit out of the box? Basically none of the usual suspects are exciting me.

Gus Hiddink? - Proven manager, and has always been up for a bit of a challenge in the past, so Scotland could be of interest to him?
Marcelo Bielsa ?
Slaven Bilic ? (fair enough his West Ham stint was pretty meh)
Harry Redknapp? Always talks well of us (and them) and despite being a bit...dodgy... i reckon his no nonsense approach would maybe suit us :-/
Luis Enrique - total long shot, but maybe a challenge to change Scotlands style of play could be interesting?
Chris Coleman? - get him the hell out of that Sunderland nonsense and see if he can work wonders with us too? (dont tell him we dont have a Bale though)

Most of the above are pretty wild suggestions, but why the hell not? Every other manager in the last 20 years has failed.
What's Mike Bassett up to these days ?
He has a gig till the end of the season

Walter Smith's "my Scotland hell" has been driven by his chums in the media desperate to see him back in the game again. I'd be surprised if he was as disgruntled as is being made out in the press. Although his in a arrogant bastard, so who knows. It's not like he walked out of the job the last time he had it right enough.

Steve Clarke or Neil Lennon would be ideal. I also wouldn't mind John Collins getting the job.
John Collins getting the Scotland job would be a travesty!

Serious question but have the SFA actually advertised the job to see if any left fielders apply?

As you say it was probably all a publicity stunt to get Smiths name back in the news to try to give his some extra credibility as a potential manager even at 70.

Maybe we'll see him back as manager of Sevco next season, 'He turned down Scotland but could not refuse the chance to manage the mighty Gers once again'

I wouldn't be surprised if he was running things behind the scenes at Ibrox at the moment, some of the transfer shenanigans recently remind me of his his methods.

Its a very good question. Have they advertised the post interviewed anyone,do they have a list of candidates ,have they invited anyone to Hampden to have a chat and how far have they cast their net might be appropriate questions as well. I suspect none of these have been done and we will end up with McLeish or McCall as they are very hunlike and available.

There's a good core of solid hun managers out there, from Eck to Dick Campbell. No need to be bringing any daft foreigners or that in.

No - a very silly question! Did you not hear shug on SSB tonight telling someone who expressed the same view, that only cranks put in CVs for this kind of job. The real candidates never "apply". So there!

Is something serious going on behind the scenes at the SFA? Two fairly public knock backs and two senior executives leaving in the space of a couple of weeks is a pretty chaotic situation.
