It’s pretty rich for Watford to moan about Silva’s head being turned by Everton when the last three successive Watford managers have been replaced after just one season at the club despite all doing pretty well. They’ve shown absolutely zero loyalty to good managers like Jokanovic and Flores so they can’t expect any in return.

I'm pretty sure that's how they do things. You get a year, two tops and you're away.

Which is fine, if that’s how a club wants to operate. But if Watford want to change manager at the end of every season, they can’t be surprised if the guy in the dugout always has one eye on his next move. It seems they were annoyed that Marco Silva didn’t dismiss the Everton link out of hand but history suggests he’d have been sacked by Watford at the end of the season anyway. He must now wish he’d just resigned and taken the Everton job when he had the chance.

They were discussing it on the Sunday supplement on sky this morning as it broke, one of the journalists on the show mentioned how he’d perhaps lost the dressing room and players were no longer playing for him as he was taking all the praise and credit for how they were playing and the start to the season they had made

No idea if it’s true but there certainly did seem to be something slightly off since November, their results dropped off a cliff after such a good start

Perhaps the board had seen this was the case and felt it best to make the change now

Several of their players including the goalie Gomes and Richarlison seem to have backed Silva on social media today since the news broke. It’s possible he did deserve to be sacked. I just had to laugh though at that Watford statement taking umbrage with him potentially being interested in another job when they have fired three successful managers in three years!

The length of time it was taking made it obvious there was a problem. If O’Neill was desperate for the job, he’d have wanted it sealed as soon as possible when the SFA first enquiried about him before Christmas. I assumed he was drawing the process out to tempt other clubs to make a move for him.

SSC are due for membership renewal at the end of the month too. Nations draw on Wednesday. 2 fixtures announced in Peru and Mexico. Here, give us all your money while we continue to floof about with no permanent manager.
