Flores>MON>Lambert - almost looks like Stoke sacked Hughes without a plan in mind!

They're in real bother.
They were keeping Hughes til they got effed out the cup. Think they think they're more attractive than they are.

giggs getting the wales job is hilarious. fair enough he was a man utd coach for ages, but he does not deserve a relatively high profile job at this point.

still, it's wales, so it's funny.
Gary Speed I think had no more than 4 months as a manager before getting that job & Hughes had no management experience at all when he got the gig.

Granted Wales are a more attractive job now than they were then.

You serious?
I am.
I don’t know the specifics of each case but I’m sure each person would say “it was a joke”
A couple of differences, one was pished up and posting to his friends (still not right) and I think he said he’d do it himself.
The other was in a public news conference

Taking anything Sevco/Celtic out of it, what’s the difference?
you're right, you obviously dont know anything about the case. the clown himself didnt even have the brass neck to try and claim it was a joke

Think Lambert will struggle to remove the ‘last resort’ stench hanging over this appointment. His previous two jobs only lasted a few months, which suggests either poor judgement on his part in taking on those roles or people are appointing him and then quickly changing their mind.

The difference this time round is that, whatever you think of Stoke as a club, or their league position under this board, he is at a club with a pretty sensible outlook, normally not prone to the worst type of knee jerk stuff. So he can probably look forward to having a fairly sensible manager/chairman relationship for once.

Villa of 2012 were the Sunderland of today. Inexorable decline, an owner who wanted to sell the club and a good half decade of cost cutting and mismanagement preceded him. Plenty were not doing that job any justice, but do you really turn a club like Villa down? The potential is there for someone to make them the equivalent of at least Everton *faint praise* .

Blackburn are the type of club he should not have touched with a barge pole, clearly. How choosy out of work managers can really be is not really any of our specialist subject however. Just look at Steve Clarke. As it is, Lambert just went into a job way above that of Clarke.

I think the job he done at Wolves was obviously lacking inspiration, but was by no means any sort of disaster. Another club with a new owner and a firm idea of where and what he wanted to succeed. Which is currently being backed by about £50m and counting.

You could argue that with a couple of winnable home games against Huddersfield and Watford after tonight's game at Old Trafford, that the mad panic that tends to be attached to being one of those bottom three teams could be alleviated pretty quickly, and he'll have a better idea of where he stands than at any of those recent clubs.

Former Kilmarnock boss Lee McCulloch has been appointed assistant manager of Polish top-flight side Lechia Gdansk. Now I haven't much time for the guy but I think that's a brave move on his part to sample other countries' football and gain experience.

Aye, maybe. Or he's just another chancer who'll trouser the managerial equivalent of a signing-on fee for an impossible task of a job from which he fully expects to be sacked and compensated within 6 months. With a compliant Scottish MSM only too happy to let him bleat about 'My Polish Hell - Minus 30 degrees & Nobody Spoke English' ...

Can't wait for the first time Giggs has to criticise a player for not showing commitment to playing for their country

Good luck to him. Must be around the anniversary of his screamer from 80 yards against Motherwell.
The one in the Huns New Year game was an absolute belter.

So what? They offer very little to the league and if they are relegated they’ll probably have a sub-£20m turnover within two years (assuming no promotion).

One was a football manager making an off the cuff remark

The other was a guy who said he could get a shooter and would use it to inflict harm on someone.

Neither are comparable in any way and the Sevco fan got off lightly rather than his punishment being “too harsh”

Glad O'Neill didn't take the Stoke gig given the contenders lined up to replace him in the Irish job.

MON is after damaging the relationship between himself and the Irish fans. Will be interesting how it pans out from here.
