A good move for all involved. Lennon gets the chance to rebuild his reputation at one of the bigger clubs in Scotland, Hibs get a manager who knows the Scottish game inside out and who was previously very successful with us.

I suspect Neil's thinking that if he does well and Rodgers makes an erse of the Celtic job, he'll get another chance with us somewhere down the line.
He must rue the day he left us :(

I'm utterly ambivalent about Lennon but I think a promoted hibs would greatly improve the top division. Good luck to them.

Really hope Kilmarnock go down (if it can't be the Huns due to the rule change)
What rule change? :ponder:

Have i missed something?

Not entirely sure where the praise for Leeann Dempster is coming from. I'll admit she talks a good game.

The cup win was a brilliant achievement, but their performance on and off-field last season was worse than the one before.

Hibs are losing money desperately, they need 10,000 season ticket holders to stand a chance of avoiding the losses of the past 2 years and Dempster's said herself that they're down 2000 renewals from last season even after the cup win. They might well get the 10,000 but their tickets have been on sale since about March.

Way over budget 2 seasons in a row and they're still in the second tier. I saw what Lennon said about keeping the squad together but unless they take even more losses on board (It's cheating when anyone else does it) they'll probably need to sell Cummings or McGinn as well.

Having said that, watch as they sign Commons and Stokes now.

They got to two cup finals and played mainly Premiership teams en route playing in front of decent crowds , which will no doubt been worth a fair bit to a club their size. They filled Easter Road when they beat Hearts. They are just off the back of two seasons where they've had 3 visits from Hearts and 6 from the Sevco and played in a number of play off games.

Their income from all of that will comfortably be higher than half a dozen Premiership teams.

If they achieve 10,000 season ticket holders - personally think they'll get a few more than that - then they've probably got one more season before the finances bite.

The income distribution gap between Premiership and Championship is not as pronounced as it used to be since the re-merger of the Leagues and new revenue distribution deal.

Like every other club, they'll benefit from the new TV and sponsorship deals for the League Cup, higher Sky/BT/BBC deals for the SPFL kicking in for next season.

It's not funny money by any means, but there is unarguably more money going about the SPFL from next season.

just because a club is running at a loss does not mean they're cheating.
a lot of clubs operate in the red for large parts of the season or longer.

if they end up millions in debt to a major bank with no means of paying it back whilst winning titles with players bought with that debt, and get a license for europe when they had unpaid taxes then that is cheating.

I'm guessing that Lennon spends most of his spare time in Scotland and as a result it makes sense for him to take a job up here. A bit like Lou Macari in reverse.

Finished on same points last season as 2014/15 although 3rd as opposed to 2nd. Two cup finals winning one of them last season, losing quarter and semi finalists 2014/15.

All in i think last season was far more successful than the previous one.

Could argue though that last season was an easier route to promotion as they didn't have a strong Hearts side to contend with like the previous season. And with Sevco going up automatically, it was a weak looking play-off line-up - highlighted by the fact a dismal Kilmarnock side won it comfortably.

They had a stronger sevco to contend with, 14 point improvement.
Falkirk, 17 point improvement.
Raith, 19 point improvement.

Opinions.

Having met Lenny more than a few times, with Remy and a few of the original Kerrydale Celtic FC lads, he is a really decent guy. I wish him all the best and hope he has instant good fortune with Hibs.

He must know that is a bit of a risk, but I'm sure he will bring them up first time.

When he comes back to Celtic Park with them, he will get a great reception, then get pumped.

I have no problem with Hamster - he's been on here longer then me probably and is more than entitled to his opinion.

I do though think hertz get off really lightly with the way they acted - everyone seems to view them as a great success story (and they have been well run since Budge got in) but they essentially cheated and overspent for years and then left a lot of people in the shampoo with regards to debts.

This'll probably get deleted for being o/t but ...

Hibs made an operating loss of 800K in the first season after relegation but net debt was actually reduced (partly due to a share issue to supporters) to £2.4M.

Compared to the season just finished we got a reduced parachute payment (so -£250K) and had only the New Huns in the league rather than both them and the Diets but had 2 sell out cup derbies, a League cup run to the final and a Scottish cup win. Increased income from that lot will probably see a small profit when the accounts come out.

To compare that to Hearts who almost died while shedding over £1M stolen from UK taxpayers and well over £20M stolen from the people of Lithuania is as ludicrous as it is laughable. If the Lithuanian government had played anything like as tough as Good Old Hector they'd be as dead as the Old Huns.
