O’Neil is a better choice for Scotland than some of the bangers mentioned.

I just don’t think he’s some sort of genius - he’s done brilliantly with limited resources but he should go for the biggest and best job he can get ASAP cos he might be begging for interviews in a few years.
Has anyone described him as a genius :ponder: He is a good coach, knows his stuff tactically and has a good record with players who love playing for him. He is obviously not in the bracket of Pochettino, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Klopp etc. But in terms of the type of market Scotland are shopping in he would be a very good appointment imo - far better than the likes of McCleish, Burley and - as it turned out - Strachan. You will not get the type of guff you had under the previous manager with Griffiths and McGregor. If O'Neill does come I would expect Brown to keep playing - Rodgers will see to that.
Well I hope he doesn’t come if it means Brown keeps playing for Scotland.

He would be a good fit for Scotland based on what he’s done so far but if I were him I’d be trying to cash in right now - it’s not been this good before and might never get this good again. Wouldn’t expect for a second to see the type of shampooe and daft selections Strachan was guilty of - nor would I necessarily expect him to get us to euros or World Cup though.

Managers can't really complain about lacking tenure or job security if they make ridiculous moves like that.

Chris Coleman, earlier this week:

Quote:

"I have always stressed I would love to experience working in the Champions League," said the 47-year-old.

"I am not going to get that from a club in the Premier League. It is just not going to happen. Not now. To do that I would probably have to travel."

Sunderland. Really?

:ponder:
It's a fair drive from Wales to Sunderland ;)

Presumably that means Super Sally is still a pundit :ph43r:

Multiple year contract, guaranteed to be sacked and paid off with several million within a few months. Loony.

unless they go down again, bust and he gets 10p in the £ from the administrator.

I doubt they are chucking £4m plus pa at him, they're totally rooked.

might be a takeover coming of course and its the new owner that's hired him, that's the only thing that makes sense.

Their chief exec doesn’t worry about trivial things like budgets and balance sheets.

Ally McCoist just walked past me in London City Airport.

Chatted for a minutes and he said he is a candidate for Sunderland.

I asked if I should have a tenner on him, he said a fiver.
Depending on how many refreshments you've had this evening, you could look at this in two ways; he's cost you a fiver or he's saved you a fiver.

Still a lying basturt either way.

There's a saying that "the bookies are never wrong", well hope this is true this time.

Odds slashed on Alex McLeish to Rangers as favourite Derek McInnes continues to drift
The Ibrox club have yet to appoint Pedro Caixinha's successor with interim boss Graeme Murty set to stay in charge for this weekend's clash with Hamilton.

Michael O'Neill won Shamrock Rovers their first league in 15 years and took them into the group stages of the Europa League! He then took NI to the Euros last year.

That's a better CV than most of the diddies being mentioned.
While I agree with your point I am not even sure 'CV' is the most important aspect in play. Berti Vogts had won the Euros and was abysmal for Scotland. Trappatoni - CV was unbelieveable but in terms of a fit for Ireland he was just wrong. Connor Sammon leading the line - good grief. To me Michael is just a good fit - has lived in Scotland for years, knows Scottish football inside out. And when you add that into the mix I honestly don't see how, realistically, Scotland are going to fare any better.
Agreed - I think O’Neill would be a very good appointment if Scotland got him.
