Utterly baffled that anyone is worried about any possible appointment at Ibrox

They are so far behind us it is frightening

Last season we would have been in front of them even if the league rules had been changed to only give us two points for a win

This season, after ten games, we would still be ahead of them if that rule applied

Our income is approaching treble theirs...

That is not a gap tbat is going to be bridged by any manager mentioned
Correct

Our superiority in every measurable parameter versus their diseased, possibly terminal predicament

It's that attitude that will let them back in, if anything will.
Their superiority complex killed them & continues to hold them back.
Our ‘superiority complex’ is fully justified. We’re fine as long as we don’t become complacent.

McInnes would be a good appointment for them......but not because he's that great a manager.

He's competent enough, although a bit over cautious and dull in his tactics. But his most important attribute from their point of view is his cosy relationship with his mates in the media. He is pretty much immune to criticism - even his team's absolute capitulation to us in last year's LC final saw the players getting slaughtered in the press, but barely a word about McInnes culpability.

Anyhoo, the point is a manager who is already mates with the media in this country gets a lot less criticism than incomes without that cosy relationship. Look at the slack that was afforded to the Fat PLG during his tenure compared to the likes of Pedro, Cathro or even a successful manager like Deila. Even the likes of Warburton found that despite the deference shown to him when they were beating part timers, the press quickly turned against him when he started toiling in the top flight.

I wouldn't rule McInnes out - compensation would be an issue for any other team in their position.....but we know they are already living well beyond their means so what difference would another director's loan make to the debt pile? Hopefully McInnes and any other half way competent manager will see Sevco for the career dead end it is and they'll end up with another chancer.

 for Barry 8
You are 100% spot on re the old pals act that it the Scottish media. While it is most prevalent with the Ibrox managers certain ex Celtic players have had a slightly easier time as manager at Celtic park than 'outsiders'. Ask Wim, Dr Joe and Ronny.

As regards McInnes I don't know. He probably could have had it in march and didn't take it. He knocked back Sunderland because it was a basket case of a club. But it would have been less of a basket case than Ibrox and it would have paid him more.

Who knows who it will be but one thing we do is that whoever it is will start off as brilliant in teh press.

All the very best to them getting someone decent to take on the squad built by Pedro Mendes.
Always said the involvement of Mendes is the next big story to come from Ibrox.

As for Pedro........

I think he’ll go for it if; his interview the other night was a public admission that Aberdeen can’t lay a glove on us. He’s a Hun’s Hun and he’ll think he can do something with them.

Spot on. It’ll be interesting when the agents fees are ‘leaked’- probably around the same time Candeais is sold to Carlisle for an undisclosed fee*.

Don’t think the Mendes stuff is surprising - or even that unusual. Plenty clubs have close relationships with agents. Isn’t Jorge Mendes apparently pulling the strings at Wolves right now?

It won't be McInnes because they won't be able to afford paying off Pedro and his backroom staff then pay compensation to Aberdeen. It will be a cheap unemployed British manager. Someone like McLeish.

You've got to assume that anyone working in Scottish football will hear plenty more than the stuff that leaks out to us.
If so, why in earth would anyone in Scottish football think that anything can be done with them in the state they're in?
He might have other reasons to go, but I really can't see the prospect of turning them around being one of them.

The thing McInnes has in his favour is that expectations are now lower at Ibrox than they have been for the previous two managers as reality has finally hit home for most of them. If he went to Sevco and finished second this season, it would be seen as decent progress. If he could churn out a draw against us, ala Murty last season, or at least make them a bit more competitive in games against us, that too would be seen as progress given the one-sided nature of our games against Pedro’s team. Poor Mark Warburton was not only expected to compete with us, but actually beat us and play great football into the bargain given the ludicrous over-reaction to that semi-final against us. McInnes might look at things as they stand today and think there’s every chance he could improve them and that would be enough, at least short term, to keep them happy.

McInnes has played BR’s Celtic team 7 times and lost the lot. He has better players at Aberdeen too.

McLeish and Rae until the end of the season, I reckon. Both are cheap and desperate - just like the club. Perfect fit.

I agree, he’d be no threat to us whatsoever. From his perspective though, I can see why he might think he could improve things at Sevco. He’d also have the added benefit of his departure potentially causing upheaval at Pittodrie, which would obviously work in his favour.

For a Scottish manager prepared to indulge the wearrapeeepul schtick it's a life long meal ticket - 3 years at the hundome with at least mediocre results gives him the Scotland job any time he wants it, as much media punditry as he wants and easy money making appearances at the more exclusive sash bash events.

Now all of that might be irrelevant next to the money he could make if he heads south and is moderately successful....but it's possibly tempting for him all the same as it's a safety net in case the rest of his career goes nowhere.

He will get cash in the summer too , much more than he ever did at Aberdeen.

Point being that if (and I know it's a big IF) they get their house in order then they should have a budget that would allow McInnes to buy better and so make more of a challenge, not only in Scotland but Europe as well.
I'm not meaning that he would win a European trophy but only that they may qualify for the Europa league group stages and so make some more income.

It would be a step in the right direction for them and as someone else said, weaken their rivals significantly.

Therefore I hope they go for Kenny Miller
