Quoting limited to 3 levels deep*We know Smith financially doped, but you get the point.
Fair enough. Just making the point that Kenny Miller scored important goals for Celtic against Rangers (deceased), Benfica (X2 in the Champions League), F.C. Copenhagen and Aberdeen. And I can assure you those goals were celebrated just as loudly as they would have been had they been scored by a Celtic fanatic.
I accept that pal. Would you like to see Walter Smith or Ally McCoist in charge at Celtic? Even if they won you the European Cup I suspect you'd still rather have won it under Martin O'Neill or Tommy Burns. Anyhow, getting back to the point, Everton are stuffed at the moment but we don't want a rednose to take over. Simple really I get that you wouldn't want Benitez or Rodgers managing Everton because of their Liverpool connections. The problem is that they're both better & more successful managers than you're likely to attract.
We wouldn't want Smith & McCoist because of their hun connections, but also because we could unquestionably attract better & more successful managers than them.

not really an accurate comparison, is it? Brendan Rodgers is one of the finest managers in the country and will move to a significantly better club than Everton when the time inevitably comes. Perhaps recognising that this is a Celtic Forum and keeping your hilarious scouse patter for your other forums would stand you in better stead around here. Smith and McCoist Nice one fatty. Rogers has done a great job at Celtic, but did not do a very good job at Liverpool. I am surrounded by Kopites in this city and I know what they think of him. I have no doubt that he will return to the Premier League at some point and I'm sure he'll win titles and trophies. However, that won't be at Everton. I recognise that this is a Celtic forum, and I have supported Celtic for over 50 years. I reckon I have the right to come on here and post what I want, providing it is respectful. Hilarious scouse patter? Give it a rest pal.

Simple really I wouldn’t want Smith or McCoist, primarily because I don’t rate them as managers. If someone with Ibrox connections, who was a great manager and had treated Celtic with respect (as I believe Rodgers always did with Everton), i’d have no issue with them managing Celtic if they were the most talented person for the job.

Done a far better job than Klopp.
Still, can't be nice for you constantly living in the shadow of a far bigger and more successful side on your own doorstep.

The guy is entitled not to be so keen on Rodgers if that's how he feels. We had some on here who for some reason didn't like MON and then a lot more who didn't like Strachan.
Is saying the lad with the teeth any worse than some of the nicknames or given to some of our players over the years? Aye, not quite getting the hostility here. We've all called Celtic managers a lot worse than that. It's hardly even an insult, given that BR quite clearly did go through a wee makeover stage.

You're right mate, but Manchester's far enough away that we can't hear them. If you refer to our neighbours from across the park who, like ourselves have not won the league in nearly thirty years, they chirp pretty loudly about the cups they've won. The last one was five years ago I believe, and the one before that was 11 years ago. That's one of the reasons we want nothing to do with them. It's nothing personal against Rogers or Benitez. The fan base simply wouldn't accept it.

I'm actually on your side in this argument, Everton shouldn't even consider appointing an ex-Liverpool manager even if they were the best available. To try and claim that Liverpool aren't more successful than Everton is just daft though.

My point around the lovable reds is that, compared to their really successful times, they have won one trophy in the last ten years and that was the Milk Cup. I am not advocating Hun style apartheid in our next appointment either. I just reflect a feeling that all Evertonians will have right now regarding ex reds.

No mate. We skip to and from the ground on derby day and sit together in the ground, consoling each other when goals are scored. Just like Celtic and the The Rangers. Am I going nuts or was the Merseyside derby not once renowned for Evertonians sitting side by side with Liverpool fans in the Kop, travelling to Wembley together for cup ties, etc? Admittedly, you don’t see so much of that now.

How are you measuring this? He stands head and shoulders above most of their managers of the last 30 years bar 1 or 2...
