This is perfect for Lennon, Hibs are the second best option behind us in Scotland, he'll have a chance to be a genuine success right away and will also have the potential for that big rivalry with Hearts too, I can definitely see why this would interest him.

I'm buzzing for next Season already.
He'll need a body guard at Tynecastle.
Only if they meet in the cups

Great appointment for Hibs. Lenny will do well there. He was hard done by at Bolton. He probably should have left after keeping them up in the first season.

Hibs will get promoted next year.
Probably.

Dundee Utd aren't likely to get their house in order in time to mount a serious challenge for the automatic promotion spot. So it looks like Falkirk are his only serious competition and (according to a couple of their fans I was talking to) they've hit the glass ceiling for a club of their resources and aren't likely to get any stronger than they were this year.

So assuming he holds on to the bulk of their squad and makes a couple of sensible loan additions (he'll probably be on the phone to us immediately to see who's available) he should be good to bring them up.

It'll be interesting to see his attitude to us if/when he does bring them up.....will it be respectful at all times, or will he end up whinging in the media about how they never get a decision at Celtic Park similar to some of our other ex-players who end up managing other Scottish clubs.

Great appointment for Hibs and a chance for Lenny to resurrect his managerial career, which isn't really panning out as planned.

Lennon to Hibs is probably equivalent of Rodgers to us. He needs to be successful there for the sake of his reputation, so I'm presuming that he has had assurances with regards of budget and of investment. Wish him every success.
Don't buy that. Rodgers doesn't need this to be a success to salvage his reputation. Moyes, yeah. Rodgers not. Us getting Rodgers is remarkable, loads of clubs would have wanted him. No one wanted Lennon

By the way, the season after next could be a real cracker if Lenny gets Hibs promoted (which I'm pretty sure he will). You could easily be looking at an SPFL with us under Rodgers, Rangers under The Magic Hat and strong Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs sides managed by really good young managers.

If Rogers tanks here his reputation takes a severe dent. That is what I mean.

Great appointment for Hibs. Hopefully they can get Parker signed up today too. They know the players and markets Hibs should be buying in and Hibs should trust their judgement on players.

Hope to see them back in the big league next year (with DU up through the play offs) and the two best away days are back.
He"ll do really well there

Not sure Lennon would want Stokes either tbh. I'd expect one or two of our youngsters to move there on loan though, and maybe permanent moves for fringe players like O'Connell.

Great coup for Hibs. Slightly disappointed it has come to this for Neil, because I think he's far better than Hibs, but he's obviously got the appetite to prove himself after the Bolton job.

Said it so many times on here, he comes across as such an intelligent and articulate manager when you listen to him. He was so good at setting up his teams for the big games and various different opposition for us, be it CL or domestically.

I'd wager he'll do a good job there; plenty of time for him yet to prove he's got the tools to be a very, very good manager at a far bigger club then Hibs.

The managerial equivalent of selling Scott Allan and bringing in John McGinn. Source: some Hibee.

Probably not far off the mark. I certainly hope so, and wish him well.

The baggage is not Lennon's, but Scotland's sectarian burden. Because he came over as counter-aggressive and truculent, rather than conciliatory and diffident when faced with this crap, the most extreme bigots were allowed to set the general agenda against him.

That was slavishly followed by many, including some of our own supporters, due to resentment against Celtic, who had the economic advantage over other clubs, and had assumed a lot of the old hun-like arrogance that accompanies that status.

I'm delighted we have him, and that he winds up opposition fans. But the only people who seriously hate him are bigots, and the fools who allow themselves to be duped by them.

Ignore the first category, educate the second.

The above has been taken from Hibs.net. Don't think I could put it better myself in regards to what Neil Lennon has faced in this Country. He's a born winner and it'll be an excellent appointment for Hibs.

A couple of interesting comments from Roy Keane:

Keane - Owners prefer coaches with white teeth and a tan

He's always good for a quote.
Well if it's a problem he should brush his teeth regularly and sit out in the sun for a while.

Sounds like Roy's hurting that Brendan got the Celtic job. :ph43r:
