ok then

My view is simply this- appointing a man who has a history of making sexist, racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic comments on his WORK phone, is dangerous.
Dont know where to start, or end, with this illogical claptrap.

Saying his appointment would be dangerous does not, in any logical way, equate to saying he is dangerous (or ready to shoot up a school as you had previously alluded to).

I'm out.

EDIT in case the logic is not transparent- I would propose that (for members of the various presbyteries) appointing Sir Stephen Hawkings as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland would be dangerous. I would not propose that he presented any form of danger, whether physical, psychological or spiritual to anyone.

Stating that someone is damgerous but isn't going to do any harm? I'll admit I was maybe. A wee bit leaning to the highly dramatic but I was making a point, if someone is "dangerous" surely that's leaning towards the thoughts that they are going to do some sort of harm, religious, physical or otherwise???

Aye best be out mate, your contradicting yourself there.

They're not saying Mackay is dangerous, they're saying placing someone with his history of racist, homophobic, sexist views into a position of authority is.

I can't think that someone who has been involved in football could be racist. May seen illogical but if you are working daily with people of different colours, races, religions then I don't see how you could hold these views as it would surely come out. I believe that any manager would just pick the best people for the job and you'd only see their attributes and not have any differing views.
I have no doubt that the texts McKay wrote were wrong and also racist stuff but I believe that they were a product of him not fully understanding of knowing why they were wrong. I also believe that the courses he's taken will have allowed him to see where he went wrong.
I've no doubt that what he did was wrong and he's rightly been punished but I also contend that everyone deserves a second chance.

I would like to clarify that I'm not saying he should be Scotland manager. I don't think he's good enough. I do think that he deserves a second chance though.

I'm pretty sure he didn't need to take a course to find out saying "Not many white faces amongst that lot but worth considering" is wrong.

"I can't think that someone who has been involved in football could be racist."

I think the first three words are sufficient explanation.

Believe it or not but some people are just ignorant.
I know that I've said racist stuff before that due to where I lived and was brought up, I didn't think was racist. I didn't even know what racism was! As I've got older I have learnt what is right and wrong and so try to be equal to all.
I'd never condemn anyone for one slip as education will help but if they kept on doing it then hell yeah I'd come down on them as hard as I could.

People learn and people change. Leigh Griffiths wouldn't be my favourite player now if he hadn't changed from being an Edinburgh radge to the wholesome individual we now have.

I work with blacks and whites every day, and the second it's all white, one particular guy will come out with a racist 'joke'.

No-one said you're condoning racism.

The point being made was that white people can work with black people and still be racist, something you admitted you were unable to comprehend.

In really easy to understand language - the appointment would be really dangerous (for a panoply of reasons, such as giving validation to unthinking idiots) but I am not suggesting Malky Mackay is a murderous psychopath.

I do not believe that Malky Mackay should be Scotland Manager. I say this for two reasons:
1) His past personal history. Whilst I am in favour of second chances, there is a limit and this role should be one of them. (England recently burnt their fingers with Big Sam after all, a man who is as dodgy as hell and was hung by his own dodginess.
2) In football terms, he is not good enough. We need to push the boat out and get someone different in, probably from abroad, a coach with recent international experience. For this, unfortunately, we will have to pay. Will the SFA take the financial plunge. Probably not.

Edit: One more point IPads are carrots.

If Mackay was an absolute magician as a manager I'd give him a 'second chance' but he isn't, so I'm perfectly content to lever his past indiscretions against him.

It's double standards but it's what football fans are best at. Anyone preaching otherwise is full of shampooe.

As Jules Winnfield might say, Mackay would have to be one charming motherfeckin pig to get a pass here.

Coyle and Clarke taking jobs with smaller clubs up here is interesting. Don't think either would have been interested even a year ago. Obviously both careers on the slide but something else happening?

Rodgers raising the profile of the league? Or maybe they realise that there's no point taking a job in England when you could be out in a few months if results don't go your way?
