Is Bora Milutinovic still alive?
he'd be preferable to Mackay as an interim boss, alive or dead

If countries like Italy, Germany and France can appoint young managers then I don't see why we can't.
It seems all Scotland has to choose from is a list of washed up, had their time guys ready for the scrap heap.
By the way, I don't have the answer.
Bookies are listing Moyes as clear favourite

I doubt Michael O'Neill would take the Scotland job before the play-offs and if they qualify then he'd probably want to go the World Cup.

Allardyce would be an utterly ridiculous appointment.
Michael O'Neill definitely depends on whether NI go to the World Cup. If they miss out and Scotland offer the right contract I think he'll take it. He would then almost inevitably be replaced by Tommy Wright. I think Michael would be a good appointment; his record at that level is pretty impressive and he knows Scottish football well.
You'd be gutted though wouldn't ya?

Michael O'Neil
Janne Anderson
Michael Skibbe
Heimir Hallgrímsson
Åge Hareide
Vladimir Petković
Gian Piero Ventura
Martin O'Neil

This is list of managers of the teams who made it to the play-off round
Not an A list by any means

I think you need to find someone with the initials MON... :ph43r:
Don't get it. There are two in there :ponder:

Saw the Huddersfield boss mentioned as a replacement.

Have no idea who would take it. Maybe Sigi Schmid if LA can him and take back Arena. Schmid is another dinosaur though.

The Timbers manager Caleb Porter has done pretty well there, is young and his teams play good football.

U-20's coach maybe?

We've just given interim responsibilities to racist. We scrape the bottom of the barrel.

Malky Mackay has to look up to see the bottom of the barrel.

Hopefully the supporters stay away from this shambles, Celtic players call off sick, and the team gets absolutely destroyed by whoever they play.

Just when you think the SFA couldn't sink any lower.

Read (or heard) that Sam Allardyce is too patriotic towards England to even consider the Scotland job and in any case would be priced out of taking it.

As for Strachan, his own stubbornness contributed to the overall failure.

gives me the heave the way the media paint it like we missed out on qualifying when it was really a play off place.
Sam's Da was from Nairn and his maw from Dumfries, so I doubt that.
Nairn and Dumfries are prime Tory areas. Probably does hate Scotland.

Mackay taking interim charge for a game against the Netherlands in November.

As depressing as it is predictable.
The bigger question for me is why are we playing a friendly at all? We have no competition to get prepared for and no manager to start and shape a new team. Should be taking the chance to let players get a break. Looks like an exercise to benefit the SFA rather than our national team. Hope nobody bothers to go.

I'm going to guess the various unemployed people mentioned are classed as the first choices? Why appoint an interim manager if your first choice is already available*?

*I realise this is the SFA and logic goes out of the window. They'll be refusing to pay a permanent manager when there's no competitive games for another 10 months.
