Good luck to Lenny if he gets the job.

He'll be excellent for them.
That job will really test his credentials

Hope he succeeds

I can see Eddie Howe getting the Southampton job for some strange reason.

In the rags the other day saying he wasn't interested as the Bournemouth owner was giving him a hefty pot this summer

Going by their HibeesBounce forum, they are now quite unanimously in favour. They still thinks he's a bit of a *&%# but they think he will get them promoted at first attempt and that he will bring them a bit of "nastiness" that they have been lacking.

NEIL LENNON has agreed to become Hibs’ new manager.

SunSport understands Lennon finally decided last night to make a sensational return to Scottish football, two years after leaving his post at Celtic.

And he is expected to be confirmed as Alan Stubbs’ successor today.

We revealed online last Wednesday the 44-year-old had been approached by the Hibees and was keen on the job.

He met with Easter Road chief executive Leeann Dempster and director of football George Craig on Friday.

They made it clear he was their top choice as they look to win promotion to the top flight. And last night he gave them the answer they’ve been waiting for.

Securing Lennon, who left Bolton in March, is a massive coup for Hibs and certain to excite a support still celebrating last month’s Scottish Cup triumph over Rangers.

Lennon lost out to Brendan Rodgers for a return to Celtic.

Now he is excited by the potential at Easter Road, having admired the stadium, training ground and fanbase.

Lennon is also attracted by the fact Hibs can offer Europa League football following their first Cup success for 114 years.

Ex-Celtic and Bolton coach Garry Parker is tipped to be his No2.

In an impassioned address to supporters, Dempster revealed she is ready to back him all the way in a bid to get out of the Championship at the third time of asking.

She said: “I plan to give our new head coach the means necessary to win the Championship. It is easier to do this with the fans beside me.

“We know you can help us get there to give us the best possible chance of winning the Championship outright and returning to the top flight where this club belongs.”

Dempster has targeted 10,000 season-ticket sales to help bankroll their bid.

She told fans: “The sooner you can commit to a season ticket the sooner we can support our new head coach to get players signed up and prepared for the initial games.

“We have almost 8,000 season-ticket supporters for next season, an encouraging total for this time of the year. We want 10,000. That’s my target.”

While it's undoubtedly a massive step down in terms of where we thought, 2-3 years ago, Lennon would manage in the future, the very best of luck Neil

That day we got the trophy against Dundee Utd in what turned out to be Lennon's last game in charge for us in 2014....

If you told me that, in two years time, our manager for that day would be taking the job of the team that got relegated out of our league that year, you'd have been laughed out of the place.

Add in the fact that on that same day, our current manager was in a last day title battle in the EPL and only just missed out on winning it.

Why I love football in all honesty. Bat shampoo mental

This is perfect for Lennon, Hibs are the second best option behind us in Scotland, he'll have a chance to be a genuine success right away and will also have the potential for that big rivalry with Hearts too, I can definitely see why this would interest him.

I'm buzzing for next Season already.

Went a bit breests up for Lenny after leaving us didn't it? No serious club in England took him on, Bolton was a disaster and mess of a club. Now he needs to rebuild and is stuck with Hibs. :boik:

A huge coup for Hibs, but a decent move for Lennon as well. He can get them promoted and start to rebuild his career. I hope he does well

If this comes off, good luck to Lenny. It's quite a statement of intent by Hibs, indeed, had he been in charge last season I think they would have won the title or at least, been promoted.

I wonder what the financial side is, and imagine Lenny is happy to take a dramatic drop in salary. Perhaps for the challenge, perhaps for family reasons. Who knows.

I had thought that Hibs would have limited finances for the squad and presumably Lenny will need to work to that. Severely restricted finances. Perhaps depending for loans, from you know who. I wonder though how that might benefit us, in terms of developing players, beyond just given them games. Because we need more than that when loaning players. On the plus side there will be players who will want to go to Hibs, to work with Lenny.

You can bet your bottom dollar, unfortunately, that he will suffer sectarian abuse. That's guaranteed.

The Hibs fans better get their act in order.

It's doubtful that anyone else could have done far better at Bolton, given their issues. You would have thought that there would have been a Championship side who would have been interested in him.

Will be interesting if we meet Hibs in the two cup competitions.

I was genuinely surprised that he was interested in the job, I thought he'd be set on another job in England. Guess he's just hanging around in Scotland waiting for Rodgers to move on now :ph43r:

It's a big step down from Celtic but it's still a decent move. I've said on here before that he needed a job where he could actually achieve something if he wanted to move on again in whatever his subsequent job is, and Hibs will offer that opportunity. They should win their league easily enough this year, and then next year they're more than capable of finishing top 4. That kind of improvement in league positions in a two year period would be attractive to a lot of English club owners.

I can certainly see a few more of our players being loaned to Easter Road this season anyway.

A quick look at some Hibs forums and apart from one or two dissenting voices ( which any appointment will get ) they seem quite taken with the idea and fairly excited about the prospect
