I think it's a bit unkind to label Palace "nonentities" and suchlike. Sure, they are not a big club but at least they draw their support from the local area and their fans are very enthusiastic and loyal.
They contribute. Football needs clubs like these to remind us where the game came from.

DeBoer was brought in as a long term project.

I'm at a loss why they'd let him go now, especially given he actually learned from mistakes from his previous 3 games.
Only two possibilities IMO - either things are so bad in the dressing room that the chairman/board have quickly had to admit they made a terrible appointment and he's got no chance of turning things around in time to save them from relegation.

...or the Chairman is a complete banger who has sacked him on a whim.

Actually, now I think about it there is another possibility - there may have been some sort of probation period/early release clause in his contract that meant they could bin him quickly with minimal compensation if it wasn't working. It's pretty standard in contracts for real world jobs to have an initial period of 3 months or so where the employer can just say "this isn't working" and terminate the contract without a formal sacking or redundancy procedure, so not out with the realms of possibility for fitba managers.

Could be. "We'll give you a trial period to see if it works out."...............................

"Sorry, but this isn't going to work. All the best for the future."

Where's Jock Stein? 10 games and 44 days at Leeds United. I believe Brian Clough did 8 games in 44 days at the same club.

Or is this another case of English football not existing between 1966 and 1992?

Didn't look like DeBoer had lost the dressing room going on their weekend showing
The chat before the game this weekend is that the senior players had demanded the change in tactics. DeBoer had lost the dressing room, and the good performance against Burnley was because the players lost faith in him and over-ruled his instructions. Reading between the lines of his post-match interview all of the above was probably true- if so, he fully deserved the sack.
No-one deserves the sack after 4 games

Eff Palace as well.

Can't stand jumped up clubs like them. Utterly irrelevant, but absolutely coining it in off Sky. Would love to see them go down.
Why are they irrelevant and who are you to say they are? They are club with fans and history.

This. While it's disappointing to find ourselves outspent by clubs with far fewer supporters I'm of the "don't blame the player, blame the game" view. Palace having too much money is hardly their fault. Making bad decisions may be. But too much money often leads to bad decisions. I have more of a problem with Man City, Chelsea, PSG and other "global brands", who have built their current prominence on more than just easy TV money.

No sympathy for an ex Hun, he was attracted by the money and will be well paid to do one
Palace are only in the top league because there are so many abysmally run clubs down there that are even worse
Step forward Villa, Sunderland, Leeds etc etc

It was a mistake to appoint De Boer. Didn't think he'd eff it up this quickly right enough

He's always come across as an arrogant arsehole when we've been up against him so he can suck it.

Next job will be the Dutch national team probably

Chris Sutton's take...
"It all seems very underhand. If Roy Hodgson is unveiled as the new Palace manager in the next day or two, then are you telling me he wasn't spoken to before the Burnley game?"
