De Boer a strange one he inherited Ajax who had gone 6 years without the league & had a squad full of Spurs rejects & then won 4 league titles on the bounce.

He did nothing in Europe & proceeded to throw away a league title on the last day, not sure I'd hold Inter against him. Other than Mourinho everyone has failed there for 30 years.

De Boer confirmed at Palace on three-year deal. Looks like an ambitious appointment and a departure from Palace's recent strategy, which has been based on appointing managers who are specialists at avoiding relegation.

Sacked in November. Big Sam will go back with a £10million bonus if he keeps them up, which he will.

I was singing the pre-watershed song in my head...

In the Guardian I read this humdinger of a headline..."Frank de Boer arrives at Crystal Palace with proven vision to pull off grand plan"

Ajax, Inter, Crystal Palace...all top European clubs of course.

Is it not Ronald who's the wink as Frank missed the penalty?

That cup summed Hibs up perfectly put us and the Huns out, then lose to Livi in the final.

Edit quoted wrong poster

I can't quite make up my mind about de Boer.

The side he inherited contained Maarten Steckelenburg, Daley Blind, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Gregory van der Wiel and Christian Eriksen (plus Luis Suarez, although he only got about 2 months out of him before he was sold to Liverpool). That's a really solid side by anyone's measure, and it was maturing nicely under Jol.

That said, four titles on the bounce is undeniably impressive, especially so given that he lost at least one of his big players every season.

Sunderland given permission to talk to Simon Grayson
The club statement that Sunderland have released confirming they've approached PNE for Grayson is a belter.

It's basically a five or six paragraph waffle about trying to sell the club, preparing to sell the club, being in discussions to sell the club, and ultimately not selling the club.

By way of a hilarious non-sequitur, the last paragraph then confirms casually they have agreed with PNE that they can speak to Grayson about becoming their new manager, like that part is no big deal. :ffs:

Comedy club.

Wasn't even that, just a line tagged on at the end. All it was missing was a BTW at the start.
