The new investor of Aberdeen is suppose to be giving the hun some money to spend. Hmmmm
He has his eye on that hun job big time. If that doesn't come along AND with a modicum of investment this Summer, he'll get his English move anyway and more than likely to a better run club than Sunderland.

Took a lot for him to knock Sunderland back.

Not just in terms of the money he could have made, but he faces a tough job keeping Aberdeen where they are with key players leaving.

Hun or not, he can't be accused of not being motivated against them. That patter is ridiculous to be honest.

Paul Hartley is thought to be going to petition to have Dundee liquidated over his unpaid contract. He's wanting it paid in a lump, they want to pay him up.

I think he's a mug for even speaking to them unless he wanted it to be known he's open to offers. Everybody knows Sunderland are an absolute trainwreck of a club - akin to Lennon taking the Bolton gig, albeit he was out of work at the time.

Some managers will talk to any club that wants to employ them. It's such a precarious job that you never know when you'll be looking for your next gig, so it makes sense not to p!ss off potential future employers by dismissing them out of hand.

Also, a round of talks with Sunderland may have strengthened his hand in discussions with the Aberdeen board regarding transfer kitty and his own wages or Ts & Cs.

Of course it's also just possible that he was genuinely interested in the job but the transfer budget and/or wages on offer weren't enough to make him take a punt on it.

I think it was MON who once said he'd encourage any manager to take on a club that was a car crash.....because it's easier to make a positive impact there and enhance your reputation than it is to come in to a well run club with a decent squad and make them better. Based on that there should be a long line of aspiring coaches desperate to take on the Secvo job next time it comes up

They've got some millionaire on the board now. Was in the rags a few days ago. Sold his business for 550m last year and wants to put money into the club.

Edit - just seen your post above, that you were confused about the hun part and not the investor part

Interesting decision by McInnes. Worst case scenario at Sunderland was if it didn't work out and he was sacked, he'd have walked away with over £1 million compensation. If it's true that he's "only" on around £300,000 per year at Aberdeen, that's quite a sum of money to knock back - especially given that he's losing all his best players this summer. When that happened to McNamara at Dundee Utd he went from cup finals and potential European football to relegation within a year.

McInnes wouldn't touch Sevco with a barge pole in current circumstances.

He'd be there in a heartbeat.

Just spoke to someone that knows McInnes.

Sunderland offer was £18k a week before bonus, hes on £6k at Aberdeen.

His wife point blank refuses to move from where they live. He travels up and down to Aberdeen several times a week.

Hes made the right decision not going down there regardless of the money
Maybe the WAGs werent up to his standard. :ph43r:

I read a blog the other week about Sunderland and FFP. It was written by a Newcastle supporter so it might be wishful thinking but it paints a pretty bleak picture for the Mackems. Due to the nature of FFP in the lower leagues if they don't gain promotion at the first attempt they'll quickly go the way of Leeds. The amount of debt they have is simply impossible to maintain outside of the EPL, even with parachute payments.

Considering retirement

Quite refreshing to see a manager or player not simply rush down at the first opportunity. He's done that already and been burned.

Sunderland are a basket case, now managed by that known clot Bain, saddled with crippling debt and seem to be in a protracted negotiation to sell the club. So McInnes could have found himself as the unfashionable Scottish manager of a middling club taken over by new owners.

Would be made worse if he was only steering a mediocre team to no better than mid table due to worse than average investment in his squad well below Championship average. Chances of him seeing out the season in that scenario, by recent mental Championship standards, would be slim.

If that was true - and I have no idea whether he covets the job or not - wouldn't he be there now, rather than the Portuguese bull shampooter fighter?

Of course, the near £1million compensation Sunderland had agreed to pay the sheep may well have something to do with that.

He's a carrot. Eff him and his Poundland Cardigan setup. I look forward to him scheidting it against Sevco all season :carrot:
Beat them twice in the league last year :ponder: :ponder:
Same thoughts here; they came 2nd by 9 points and 27+ better goal difference, but McInness always lies down to Sevco :cuckoo:
It's pathetic how this narrative of Scottish football goes because we don't like someone they lie down to the other lot, it's not enough to think they are an arsehole but they must be a cheat.

Oldco/Sevconian fans have for years said that Aberdeen are our bitch & lie down to us, conveniently forgetting that they won more times at Celtic Park than Alex McLeish & Dick Advocaat did in the same era.

I'm pretty confident that since the year 2000 Aberdeen have beaten us at Celtic Park as many times as Rangers have & there was the 26 year run they had at Ibrox without a win.

That Aberdeen were the only reason we didn't do an unbeaten season 3 times in the last 15 years.

But because their fans hate Rangers, their team lie down to us except they don't

McInnes is an arsehole and I hope we pump his team at least four times next season.

He's obviously one of the better managers in Scotland though so I'm glad he's stayed with the sheep.

Me neither----I also think he is a good manager---and he seems like a decent bloke.
Not that it matters particularly, but his assistant is certainly not "arch-hun".
