Sell all your stars, 8th in league, reach a cup final. Sacked  mental league
They were 17 points down on last year and he'd lost the dressing room apparently.

Wish I'd put money on McInnes going to Sunderland but I didn't believe that even that basket case of a club would be so stupid.

Put your wages on jack Ross being the new aberdeeen manager!!
That's a fair gamble for them if it happens. Anyone else heard Derek Adams' name mentioned for the job?

Tommy Wright would be a good appointment for Aberdeen, although I think they may try and get McLeish.

Corky, you are not comparing like for like. Mowbray and Barnes were up against Rangers. Deila didn't even have Sevco to deal with.

Edit - Aberdeen genuinely believed they could win the league in Deila's second season. That's how pish he was.
Remy they might have thought it but they still finished around 15 points behind us. Deila's first season was a success overall. His second saw him go backwards and he had to go.

Not good enough but not pish either
15 points ahead of them doesn't tell the true story. I for one was genuinely worried at one point we could have possibly have lost the league.
So was I. Read the posts - I'm not suggesting Ronny was a success.

Anyway back to the thread. If McInnes takes Sunderland job, I predict he will be at Ibrox this time next year.

He did, the Nantes job. He was also linked with Southampton this morning. Dunno if there's a bit of doubt about whether he's actually confirmed at Nantes yet, or folk think he might resign straight away or if it's just poor journalism. The latter would be my bet.

So if we didn't have a good as player as we had then we wouldn't have done as well as we did.

Controversial stuff.
Smart arse. Thanks for your contribution.

Yep, agree it's a nonsense. You might as well say where would Aberdeen have been without Rooney's goals.

Some saddo actually checked. Rooney won them a lot more points that season than Griffiths did for us.
Thanks for doing that, Mackin

Surely the dandies are getting more compensation than the reported 800k plus 200k if they get promoted. Getting sunderland into the prem is worth over 100m. Aberdeen should be getting at least a million a year for 5 years out of that.

Isn't compensation not how much his contracts worth, for arguments sake I don't think Aberdeen could demand 2 million for a manager who was only due 200 grand if he honored his contract could they?

It may well be, but if so, why is there a difference between a manager and a player?

The manager doesn't have a registration so could resign, move to another club and carry on working while awaiting the outcome of a tribunal. A player could easily resign but the club need to agree to release him from his registration before he can play for someone else.
