Would Ronny be interested in the Aberdeen job? Just a thought.
Local lad. Knows the league. Proven winner.

Bring it on.

Alex Neil won't get a better/bigger role than the Norridge role he was recently sacked from until he does some repair work on his managerial career. His best -probably only - chance in Scotland would be with Aberdeen. Any jobs in Englandshire would be with the likes of Notts County, Crawley Town etc.

John Robertson takes over the Inverness job
That'll be Inverness stuck in the Championship for a while then. He seems a decent sort but no great shakes as a Manager. No doubt they'll be hoping he does what he did before there but that was 14 years ago.

The market for the next Sheep manager could be interesting. The move for McInnes and the large number of player departures has been painted as bad news for them.

But with the investment news they've announced today, the money they'll pick up for McInnes and Hayes, and a fairly decent spread of reachable SPFL managers or out of work Scottish managers available to pick from they could actually end up better off if they get it right. It's not beyond the wit of a decent manager to replace Jack, McGinn, Taylor, Hayes etc with better players, even on their budget.

No idea what their budget for a new manager would be, but guessing about £300,000 a year. Stubbs seems an obvious contender. Tommy Wright too. Alex Neil is probably out of reach, but I wonder if he's out of reach in a sort of lets-at-least-ask-him-the-question sorta style.

Could go from the ambitious (Neil, Stubbs) to the boring (Archibald, Wright), to the ridiculous (Hartley, Pressley) to the faded grandeur of never getting another job in England in a million years so why not (McLeish, Coyle) to the what have you been smoking (Lambert, Moyes).
They should be looking at Jack Ross at St Mirren.
The last manager they got from St Mirren did not too badly :ph43r:

He would work wonders at a team that would afford him time. Aberdeen would actually be a great move for him.

I imagine Neil wants to stay down south a la Lambert, Coyle etc. on the ever decreasing drain circle like they tend to do after the first brief managerial success in England.

Tommy Wright must be due a crack at something bigger and would be interesting to see what he could do with better squad and bigger budget. He`s tactically astute , probably more so than McInnes but has a tendency to play a similar kind of football which wouldn`t be a culture shock to most of their squad. Problem is he never seems to be a sexy, hipster, foreign or weird enough name to attract a bigger club and has no historical playing connections to clubs in the SPL.

He had two years at Celtic. We were a worse team when he left than when he arrived.

I'd be delighted if he got the Aberdeen job.

At some point with us he panicked and abandoned his philosophies. Started playing Commons due to pressure from the media and fans is an example of this. Aberdeen would allow him the time you just don't get here

But he didn't abandon his philosophies. That's the problem. He was totally incapable of changing the gameplan halfway through a match. Rodgers can.

Dying to get rid of McInnes at times, Sheeps chased many a Manager who hath delivered success.

I know Sunderland have been in the doldrums for a while now culminating in their relegation but they are still a reasonably big club with a big support. I would have thought they would have set their managerial sights higher than McInnes.

Can we not just accept he was pish and move on? This is the kind of 'Paul le Guen was too good for Scottish football' argument that does my nut in. Deila was weak, he was tactically poor, his raising of fitness levels was a complete myth, his results in crunch games was abysmal, his didn't have the respect of his players and his football was utterly dire to watch for the most part. But apart from all that he was great.
