I guess the Hayes/Christie deal might be on hold until BR finds out who's replacing McInnes. Wouldn't want a loanee playing under a pish manager.

The market for the next Sheep manager could be interesting. The move for McInnes and the large number of player departures has been painted as bad news for them.

But with the investment news they've announced today, the money they'll pick up for McInnes and Hayes, and a fairly decent spread of reachable SPFL managers or out of work Scottish managers available to pick from they could actually end up better off if they get it right. It's not beyond the wit of a decent manager to replace Jack, McGinn, Taylor, Hayes etc with better players, even on their budget.

No idea what their budget for a new manager would be, but guessing about £300,000 a year. Stubbs seems an obvious contender. Tommy Wright too. Alex Neil is probably out of reach, but I wonder if he's out of reach in a sort of lets-at-least-ask-him-the-question sorta style.

Could go from the ambitious (Neil, Stubbs) to the boring (Archibald, Wright), to the ridiculous (Hartley, Pressley) to the faded grandeur of never getting another job in England in a million years so why not (McLeish, Coyle) to the what have you been smoking (Lambert, Moyes).
They should be looking at Jack Ross at St Mirren.
Good shout but he told Dundee that he wanted to stay at St Mirren when they approached him.

However, second biggest club in Scotland comes calling that may just sway it. He did a remarkable job in the end with St Mirren considering the trouble they where in.

I think Archibald is a very decent young coach and would be a safe bet for them.

Could be wrong but I think they'll set their sights a bit higher than that. Tendency to get carried away with what Jack Ross achieved last season.

Credit where it's due, his Alloa and St Mirren teams both did actually look like a team against us. But he's basically stored up an amount of goodwill and decent stock by being able to get St Mirren clear of relegation to the third tier. He finally achieved that on the last day, having been in post for seven months, and overhauling pish like Ayr, Dumbarton and Raith.

EDIT: Sheep baaa on the street appears to be Danny Cowley of Lincoln.

He also had a while where he had inherited Alex Rae team & couldn't get anything out of them, they only got success when he ripped it up & started again in January.

I guess it'll be the two brothers from Lincoln. I mind them getting interviewed when they were on that FA cup run. They've worked together for years. They were schoolteachers I think and ran teams together.

They should try for Alex Neil. Won't get him but it costs nothing to ask.
I think they should as well - if they get Neil in, get some compensation for greetin faced hun pie and looks like they are getting investment as well they might narrow the gap in the league to under 20 points and maybe get a final to extra time before getting horsed.

Got a lot of airtime on Sky's SPFL stuff last season. May be a candidate to get more in the absence of EBT McCann.

If John Hughes hadn't taken that Raith Rovers job last season when he was on a hiding to nothing , he'd have been in with a shout of the Aberdeen job as his stock was still fairly high after his good work at ICT

No chance now though

Alan Archibald.
Well quoted within Aberdeen and people close to Partick have been worried about this for some time, still think NL is a good shout.

Surely he's too visionary for that job?

Not sure the country's ready for someone that positive and forward thinking
