There were people on here defending Moyes after he took the reigning champions to 7th in 9 months, I dread to think what he'd have had to do to us to convince people he was out of his depth.

Their defence for him finishing 7th was he inherited a rubbish team from Ferguson, they won the league by 11 points before he got his hands on United.

He also won less than Juande Ramos & Roberto Martinez did.

Only just caught up from Wednesdays games. Say what you will about Lennons temper etc but I believe respect has to be given to his reaction to the frankly horrendous tackle on his own player right infront of him!

I wanted David Moyes to be Celtic manager last year.

I guess that's why I work in IT and not football then.

I 'wanted' Moyes in because I thought in reality we would end up with Coyle or McCarthy. Thank feck we showed a bit of ambition for once.

Moyes looks permanently scarred by OT. The half hearted jaunt to Spain was almost like a mid-life crisis - did he even want to make a success of it you wonder. Now he's at Sunderland it's as good a match as any. Mid table aspiration suits him but I'm not convinced he has the gumption left in him to avoid the Championship where let's face it, Sunderland belong.

I wanted Moyes too. There's worse, I didn't want Rodgers. :ffs:

To be fair to Cathro the first 20mins of the game Hearts were really very good and created chances while barely giving us a sniff. And, even taking the goals into account, if they play in a similar fashion against any other team in this league apart from Aberdeen they will rip them apart. By the 4th goal they'd given up the chase and were happy to just not get pumped more but any other team wouldn't have scored 4 by that point and a lesser keeper would've conceded where Gordon saved. I'm still not for writing the man off.

I didn't think they were really good. We scored what looked like a legitimate goal after about 130 seconds. They got at our back three at times, sure. There was an unfamiliarity in how we played at the back and I thought Lustig in particular looked susceptible at times. The guy Goncalves is a decent pick up for them and caused a few problems first half.

However, the state of Hearts must truly worry their supporters. From keeper through back four, you could put up an argument to say that is one of the weakest defences in the league. That's down to Cathro. I spent a good couple of minutes just following that Nowak customer yesterday. I got the impression that he'd not look out of place in the Juniors. Deplorable standard. Sowah is exactly the same, and it is possible to go on.

Never mind claiming fourth place, I can see them being caught by Thistle.

Even if you consider Neilson leaving as being out of their control (personally I don't think it was if Levein showed a little more mettle) what has come next has been a total disaster for Hearts and the goodwill built up since they emerged from administration has gone.

A club very much on the slide, no matter what is being built off the pitch.

More Moyes madness:
Feeling the pressure

David Moyes has issued an apology after threatening to “slap” a female reporter for the BBC.

Vicki Sparks, of BBC Newcastle and Radio 5 Live, conducted an interview with Moyes after Sunderland’s 0-0 draw with Burnley on March 18.

The point was seen as detrimental to Sunderland’s survival hopes, with Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Watford leaving them bottom, eight points from safety.

Ellis Short was in attendance at the Stadium of Light for the Burnley draw, and Sparks asked Moyes whether he felt his job was under more threat with the club chariman watching on.

Moyes answered the question in full as part of the BBC interview, but Sparks was still recording when a further exchange took place afterwards.

“It was getting a wee bit naughty at the end there so just watch yourself,” Moyes told Sparks, the interview having finished. “You still might get a slap even though you’re a woman. Careful the next time you come in.”

Sparks did not report Moyes for the comments, but it is believed that her employers were infuriated when they heard the recording.

A BBC spokesperson said: “Mr Moyes has apologised to our reporter and she has accepted his apology.”

Too bloody right we dodged a bullet with this pumpkin and that's an understatement.

FA should slap him with a fine and a touchline ban.

Is Moyes trying to get the sack ? First comments about needing "Britishness" from his players, now threatening to slap female reporters. Shudder to think what he will come out with next...seems determined to alienate everyone.

Think some are getting a bit over heated on the Moyes quip, he was hardly threatening her when you hear the actual exchange. Shouldn't have said it but hardly a sacking offence!

You'd think that Moyes would be able to handle the pressure of a relegation battle given that he was predicting they'd be in one in September.

But, aye, threatening female journalists for asking questions suggests he's not.

The man's an idiot.
