What impressed me so much on Saturday was how we’d clearly analysed Motherwell’s tactics and quickly figured out not only how to combat it, also how to best attack them by exploiting it.

It was noticeable at times, we stood up to their long ball, Tierney sitting slightly further forward to pick up any knock downs they were able to get, then funneled the ball to the wing. As they tend to play a 3 at the back, with their two wide men slotting in to create a 5, once we were in that position, then their wide men got back, we then moved it inside, constantly moving them.

When we were two up they were still chasing shadows, although we did obviously let up after the 2nd goal/first half.

Hopeful we see a few new faces in the summer of his choosing.

Just a genuine nice guy who has a fair bit about him football wise. He loves the club and whilst there will be rocks on the road we are gearing up for 3 succesful season under him after 2 blinding ones. He needs to work on European performances and the doing's we got were horrific and needs to try to try to play it tight to get results...recruitment needs looked at as I think it has been patchy last wee while.

But he certainly knows how to get the best out of a squad of players. He is a bona fide Celtic man due to his roots and where he is from...thank god we got him 2 years ago.

Listening to Henry Winter talking about him few weeks back and his personal approach to the Liverpool players and staff is what he is remebered for at Anfield. They seem to think not the greatest tactician but he got the players onside to his mantra of looking after themselves and playing for each other. The personal approach & constantly drived it home at team meetings & dressing room chats.

Terrific man and terrific manager IMO. As stated previously on this page only 2nd now to Big Jock. He will swat aside Gerarrd IMO. 10IAR and he is a bona fide living legend.

Very Special Football Manager and a Very Special Man - He is Sheer Class off the park - He understands Good People as he is one of them.

He has had offers and could quadruple his salary easily overnight but he is not driven by dosh - His and his family being happy is the important thing - Like Jock Stein he never forgets his roots - He knows he is managing the Celtic the EPL and European Big Guns have obscene money to utilise but Our Club is Brendan's Club he knows and has spoken privately that no Club in the world has the heart and soul and ethos of Celtic.

I met and chatted for quite a while to his daughter Mischa in Donegal - She lives in England and was with Brendan when he was managing Swansea and Liverpool - She said that much as he loved those clubs at the time she sees it in her Dad all the time that Celtic is so different to and means so much more to him - He lives and breathes it - She said he always says to her "This is Celtic Mischa - This is my Club :) "

He is a Celtic Legend already - Stay for the Ten Boss and only Jock will surpass you as the Greatest Ever Celtic Manager.
 and here was me thinking he was getting bored

Lennie will have to wait a bit longer

Yes - I have heard the "He's bored " stuff doing the rounds for a fair while now - He sure as feck didn't look bored on Saturday.

He has a three tier structure of objectives going on - Building for the future which he is slowly but surely doing /winning the league which is the priority for the CL dosh and then trying to improve in the CL - At the time he said he wanted Celtic playing regularly in the last 16 of the CL from where we were I felt that was a massive leap - This season in Europe didn't change that and Anderlecht at home hurt him - That is the sort of game I expect him to be trying to ensure Celtic will win and pick up points.

He himself says there are no guarantees in football re jobs albeit being Brendan he is sharp and goes down "a few bad results and you can be getting binned" line but as things stand he is going nowhere.

Yep  All commentators talking about Motherwell not doing this or that :ffs: it was all about the Celtic players doing exactly what they had been told to do. When that happens it usually turns out well for us.

The Anderlecht game was a double edged sword.

Although we lost, getting through was the priority that night. It probably hurt him as it was the first realistic opportunity of getting a home win in the group stages.

Well it was Ronny’s too, he wasn’t great at it.

My point is, he’s so effective sometimes in his analysis, rarely have we had a manager who comes up with a plan that kills a team almost stone dead in 30 minutes. He’s also done it during games, little tweaks.

In summary, might be his job, he does it extremely well.

Fantasy 'Would You Rather' aside, I'd be happy enough if we got a 3rd place CL finish again or, failing that, a decent post-Christmas tilt at the Europa League.
I'm the same. Would like to see us make a better fist of it than we did against Zenit though.

Good reading that.

He's already a legend and it's hard to argue against him being second only to Jock Stein if and when the 10 happens. Hopefully another barrowload a cups will come our way too and progress in Europe.

He's 100% the right man at the right time.

I think though, that every manager who walked through the door post-2005 has MON to thank. He took on the hun when it was at it's most obscene, living the high life on stolen cash after shooting Scottish football in the back, and bragging about it in a crescendo of 'self-made millionaire' golf clubhouse winkery.

MON walked in, shut them up and took everything they had. They never recovered.

Brendan is the right man to keep watch for their bony hand reaching up through the dirt.
Agreed. MON is the best since Stein. It would take something extraordinary to eclipse him. If Brendan took us to another Euro final (big if) then maybe we could compare the two.

As things stand their two different men in different times. Love them both.
