Today was the most visibly pissed off I've seen him. Even at 0-0 early on when Boyata(?) put an easy one out of play.

It's going to be a big summer. Potentially a large turnover of players in a WC year while traversing hopefully 8 qualifying matches that are even harder than before. Will be very tricky.

I think the reduction in intensity in a lot of games and passing the ball around more is for the purposes of energy conservation. Not many teams will play the number of games we do with as little in terms of a break. That's fine in terms of the bigger picture. The problem in a lot of games has been that because we are so slow we allow teams to get back and stay compact. We end up having to shift the ball out wide a lot and there is very little to hit in the middle.

I definitely think playing two through the middle if we aren't going to have one of our 'big' games will give us more variety and will lead to more space being created.
We have stepped it up when needed - if not always when wanted - but the reason we play more games than our domestic opponents is the same reason we should be able to rotate the squad more if there's a need to conserve energy. We have a better, bigger squad than anyone in the SPFL, by far, and our wage bill reflects this. If we're not doing this then surely there's an issue with recruitment.

Even with the much less exciting football I'm still enjoying watching it. Possession, movement and quick passing is better to watch than fast paced kick chase that might result in more goals (ala huns).

Bottom line is the man is on course to do something nobody else has managed. Keep doing what you're doing BR.

If he doesn’t see that we need big changes to the squad, then I’m worried. Today was another just appalling performance in a season of really poor league form.
Rodgers definitely cares (his comments and demeanor yesterday reminded me of Alex Ferguson when Aberdeen beat the old Huns 1-0 in the cup final and he criticized their performance in the post-match interview). But it has become clear that we have too many players who have developed a “we’ll turn up when we feel like it” attitude. I do find that a little scary.

I'm genuinely concerned about his reliance on an ever diminishing pool of players. There's a MON like refusal to use the squad as an advantage rather than a hindrance. The last two games this week should have seen most of the Cup Final eleven rested and protected from the thuggery that passes as the SPL these days. I can only imagine the reaction on here if Shinnie had managed to put Broony out the Final, as he intended to do.

Look at the bench yesterday and Wednesday. Simunovic, Griffiths, Armstrong,Comperr, Roberts, Hendry, Kuoassi and others should have started both games with a few kids like Miller,Henderson and Aitchison given game time in both games. How will Rodgers learn about these guys otherwise?
We have a big pool full of expensive mistakes and unseen projects. The regular narrative that we have played so many more games than other teams backs up the fact that we should have treated these last two games as the dead rubbers they so obviously were.
We really need to sort this squad out this summer. The guys who have taken us to the brink of historic back-to back Trebles need more help than we're giving them.

I'm fed up both listening to folk on here and Brendan himself when they talk about the amount of games we play and how it's a hinderance at times when we've got 32 year old Scott Brown and KT starting every single game they're fit. You've got more than enough of a squad, effing use it.

every player is different though. broony himself has said he needs to keep playing constantly to keep ticking over. the comments about fatigue clearly isnt about him given how impressive his 2nd half of the season is

it affects the other players who have barely started 30 games a season until coming here trying to adjust to 60 game seasons

We had no subs left and were chasing the game. Also, it’s Scott Brown who played through being physically sick a few weeks ago.

Well we had no subs left?! And I doubt either Rodgers or Brown would decide to risk him for a few mins if Brown didn't feel he was fine to play on.

He should have walked on the pitch, grabbed Brown by the lug and hauled him off the pitch :arrr:

He is the manager. It was a nothing game for us so yes he should have come off. Anyway I agree with FB, we should have played the fringe players and kids.

I wouldn't give manager of the year to Brendan either to be honest.

Football in the main has been pretty poor to watch.
On course for the treble, Europe after Christmas....tough crowd.
I think the manager of the year should be the one who has most exceeded any reasonable expectations of their role. There are a few candidates for that in the top league - Rodgers, Lennon, and Clarke - and I’ve no problem with any of them winning it. Rodgers’ “problem” is that expectations in him were influenced by last season, which was a huge outlier.
"I think the manager of the year should be the one who has most exceeded any reasonable expectations of their role"

An interesting concept but how exactly could Brendan win Manager of the Year under those circumstances? Given our finances he is expected to win the league plus cups. What would constitute "exceeded reasonable expectations"? Win every game? Never concede a goal? A manager of a team expected to finish 7th or 8th but finishes 4th or 5th will have exceeded expectations. He has scope to do so as there are several league places available for him to reach. Brendan does not have that. There is nothing above finishing first place.

If you put an average to poor manager in charge of Celtic right now, he'd probably win the league. If you put the best manager in the world in charge, he'd win the league, improve various players noticeably, have us playing beautiful football while humping the opposition 5 or 6 nil regularly. The quality of the manager would shine through despite both of them winning the league. For a lot of this season, the football's been below par and while it's mental to compare this season to last season and expect that level to persist, we should have been better than we've been this year.
