As long as we spank the Huns to win the league this weekend and win the SC then the season can be considered nothing less than another resounding success.
Nah, football has been rotten for huge chunks and we are a handful of points ahead of an absolute basketcase of a club. Europe was also a shambles.
Wins all 3 domestic competitions entered, Europe after Xmas = shambles :ponder:
Any signs of optimism will be beaten out of you with a big stick (or stupid comment) until moral improves :chuffed:

The building from the back is costing us time and time again. We are causing more problems for ourselves than our opponents.

In theory it’s a good way to play but we simply don’t have the players for it to work effectively.

If we are determined to keep the same style we need to buy a “sweeper keeper” and at least one ball playing centre back in the summer.
I honestly think a goalkeeper is our most important signing
i think a right back is

Celtic are lining up a move to sign Bayern Munich defender Thomas Isherwood this summer, Football Insider sources understand

Isherwood, 20, has emerged on Celtic’s radar with scouts from the Scottish club watching him in action on several occasions this season.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to strengthen his defensive options this summer with Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko expected to move on at the end of the season.

Rodgers sees Sweden Under-19 international Isherwood as someone with huge potential who could develop into a top-class player.

Bayern Munich beat a host of clubs, including Manchester City to sign Isherwood from Swedish club IF Bromma in 2015.

The rising star has yet to make his debut for Bayern’s first-team, but has impressed for Bayern’s reserves in the Regionalliga.

Isherwood has just a year to run on his current contract at Bayern and Celtic are ready to test the German club’s resolve to hang onto him by making a swoop in the forthcoming window.

It's not a shambles but people are rightly alarmed how we have gone backwards this season. We have a top top manager with some very good players, who have shown that they can turn it on. The level of consistency we are showing though is not good enough and it's only going to hamper us in Europe.

"also a shambles" therefore not just Europe was a shambles.

This could be an historic season, might not have been the best to watch overall but if it ends up another treble it's anything but a shambles. :lmao:

Learned nothing in europe, other than how to get pumped.
We haven't moved on at all this season. Few players have moved forward and we've made 1 good signing.

I think both positions need serious investment in the summer if we are going to improve. Obviously we're not operating at the same level however look at the difference in Man City between this season and last. A large part of that for me was Pep recruiting a "sweeper-keeper" and spending serious money on full-backs that suit the style of football they want to play.

12 games we've dropped points in the league this year - that is rotten.

we've won the big games domestically when its mattered but we've been dire to watch for the majority.

quite incredible we're on for a double treble.

There will be seasons in the future where will play great football and win eff all and bemoan that lack of ability to get a job done.

All we need is some freshening up and some decent new players in key positions.

How's it incredible? Motherwell got to two cup finals, same as us. Is that incredible?

We're winning the league at a relative canter. It's not been scintillating much of the time, but we've been spinning a lot of plates these past two seasons.

I think fundamentally we're going to have to be a club which either

a) runs a lot of squad rotation
b) turns over the majority of the squad every two years.

Given the number of competitive games we have, our players getting two weeks off before returning for preseason is a joke. Unfortunately, given the terrible performance of Scottish clubs in Europe it's not something we can resolve ourselves.
It's like we're in a permanent world cup hangover. We've certainly felt the effects of the previous years schedule this year. Lots of niggling muscle injuries, lots of lethargic performances and we only seem to be able to play our pressing game in one off games or for short periods in matches.

We made a decision to go again with the squad we had by and large. Ideally, we'd have moved a couple more players out last summer. I don't think we'll make the same mistake again. Which brings everything back to recruitment which at the moment under Rodgers and certainly since Congleton has came here seems very haphazard.
