Musonda is young and needs to bed in, you just cant walk into a team like Celtic, besides Patrick Roberts is back with a few months to go on his loan. Compper doesnt seem fit yet. You need depth in the team and being left footed he probably fills a utility spot left by Izzaguire. But id agree the CB's this season have been horrible. Compper is not a long term solution though.....please sign the next Van Dyke

It's hard for him, being up against history. Last season we had the invincible season to contend with, now it's the back to back treble.
That has to play with his head, in selecting teams - more likely to stick with guys who have done it for you in the past (Sinclair), rather than chuck in young & largely untested guys (Musonda). I also get it, that he wants these guys to earn the right to play FOR Celtic, don't want guys just swanning into the team, just cos they're from the £PL or Bundasliga, this is Celtic & you'll bloddy well prove you're good enough on the training ground before getting to wear those Hoops.
I hope that once the league is won, we can play guys like Compper, Musonda etc.. I personally would've played them more often most likely, but I can understand & respect why Brendan hasn't - so far.

I think this is a major factor too. It wouldn't surprise me next season if we were a lot more free in how we play and even ignored the league cup in some manner (fielding a young team). Back to back trebles is a massive pressure, but if its achieved I think the pressure to get 3 trebles on the trot won't be anywhere near the same and that will help the team in a lot of ways. It's also worth remembering that beating us just now is still a massive scalp for every other team in Scotland. More so than it has been in a very long time. Killie and Hearts celebrated it like they'd won a cup FFS. These teams are giving it everything against us and it's leading to very packed defences and some very questionable challenges. That can't be easy to come up against every single week.
Can't see us doing the League cup a disservice tbh, I think BR's main aim is to leave us after 5 years, with as many trophies as possible. Fond memories, trophies and club records to match. I still think we'll try and win it, but i'm not sure it'll be approached the same focus and desire as the last two seasons.

So if Compper aint fit (as you say if that is indeed the case) yet why sign him when we all know we needed an experienced CH in Janaury to hit ground running.
I would suggest soemthing else is not right outwith his fitness.
Think we would all concede we have enough projects in our squad so for Musonda to wait 6 months on an 18 month loan deal for him to be given start is bizarres..again when players (sinclair) are off form.
Point Im making is slightly bizarre behaviour from the manager & would suggest it is effecting perfroamnces IMO.
Signing players and not playing them is a bit confusing.

How many central defenders have we ever acquired in the January window that have come in and hit the ground running? What is our success rate at doing this? What is any club's success rate at doing this?
Stephane Henchoz? Jos Hooiveld? Thomas Rogne? Du Wei? Steven Pressley? Rami Gershon? Sviatchenko? When have we ever done this well?
Even when we brought Lustig in in 2012, (well aware he's not a centre half) there were many who thought he was pish long after that first half season.
There is a reason it is difficult. Bringing someone into a perceived wonky defence (at European level) mid season and expecting wrong to become right is largely a bit of a pipe dream, best left to Top Eleven or some bollocks.

I think Ajer was also lightweight and was sent out on loan to killie and has came back a much better and stronger player. As for Compper, I think there must be more to it than just not being fit

First it was he can't play in Europe THIS season. Then it was it's because he is not playing NOW. Now in light of a load of evidence of truly howling January central defensive pick ups, your concern is the CL qualifiers NEXT season?
Ok.

Cannot be denied 20 months into job and largely Deilas team has done the damage for him.
We dont need any more projects and we need 1 maybe 2 no nonsense EXPERIENCED centre halfs. A right back and if Moussa goes (which he will this summer) a striker.
Chances are Armstorng will bolt and pootentially Rogic now as well. So lots will happen.
The team needs gutted and we need players who can slot in. Not works in progress.

They must have thought he was ready hence going and getting the deal done.
AS i say bizarre he is nowhere near team along with the Compper bhoy.

Compper was a disaster from the start. Most of our back line has been all season though tbf. No progress will be made until that defence is almost entirely gutted and reshaped with new additions to the squad in the summer. Will it happen? Well, we’ve been here before.

I'm asking pretty specific questions about this apparent central defensive miracle cure, which seems to have taken root on here.
Liverpool spent the equivalent of 85% of our entire record turnover acquiring Van Dijk to fix their defence. There's a reason for that.

The team will be a continual work in progress given the type of players we target. Team I agree wil be what you sayl KS.
That aside the full performance level has been chronic and football not great to watch. I will be blitzed and cheering on the team after th SC final when we hopefully do the treble but I find his full recruitment policy a biit off piste with justification.
I apprciate we are a revoling door club in terms of players coming in & moving on if they do well BUT him not playing players he buys and sticking by players under performing no matter if SAF or Brendan Rodgers IMO is strnage behaviuor for a manager.
He obv. sees what we see and he cannot be happy either surely? So then I question his stubborness.
We are winning just now but only just. Ill take wins all day but he is spedning money and being paid big money to have a tesam pleasing ont he eye and playing a certain way.
Ill take wins all day and Im all for increwased competiton but surely cannot be denied we have regressed?

I know I’m stating the obvious, but this really is a place of extremes, isn’t it? The reluctance by some to criticise Rodgers in any way is just bizarre. The signings of Musonda and Compper have not worked so far, and the boss has to carry the can. The manager himself told us that both players were being signed to play for the first team. Musonda was wanted by 25 clubs, remember? We wanted him in the summer. Real Madrid tried to sign him, according to the manager. He was playing for Chelsea the week before we signed him. He was going to be the much talked about creative spark. And now he can’t get a game because of the sparkling form of... who? It was Brendan Rodgers that raised supporters’ expectations with these signings, and now the tune has changed completely. Maybe he needs to be a bit more careful about what he says to the press. None of our January signings have improved the team apart from, ironically, the Dundee reserve goalie we signed as an emergency.

Compper is not a long term solution though.....please sign the next Van Dyke Loan players, almost by definition, shouldn’t need time to bed in. They’re only here for a limited time as it is. He’s here because he’s not yet good enough to get regular football with Chelsea. If he’s not yet good enough to get regular football for us either, the whole thing’s a waste of time for everybody. Chelsea would have been better off loaning him to Kilmarnock till the end of this season.

I told you what Rodgers said. And I never mentioned 5 central defenders but you keep making stuff up to pretend all is well. His recruitment over that past three transfer windows has been poor. Bury your head all you want. In this past window, it's only really been poor if you've decided you don't rate a good number of players that you've seen half a dozen times or less. Sitting in judgment on Bain, Hendry, Compper and Musonda at this point is beyond mental. Just dig out an old Lustig thread from 12/13 if you don't believe me.
What is likely a bigger problem is if you've already made your mind up in advance of them even coming to Celtic that they are not good enough. Which seems to be the bigger problem in all honesty.
Then your own bias has simply been confirmed, because they were never good enough in your eyes in the first place.

And that's as extreme a post as I've read. So it's "bizarre" to be reluctant to criticise a manager who's on the cusp of a double treble after an invincible season? Whatever you say.

I think you taking it that Annoni is spouting blasphemy...to me he is merely trying to highlight poor recruitment policy & at times the managers comments are very left field on players he has signed and players under performing in games..which is fine to an extent.
I think all of us and certainly myself including adore the gaffer and the job he has done and in now ay diminshing his achievements but anyone with any football knowledge would concede performances have been poor and recruitment not far behind it this year and season by him.
