What baffles me most is Rodgers blind faith in Sinclair. He's been a waste of a shirt for most of the season, the goal stats suggest otherwise,I know, but as far as I can see he's got more than enough chances to play his way out of the doldrums. It's not happening and the side is suffering. Set up our winner yesterday, in a game we created very little collectively.

I know left wing isn't Forrest, Roberts or Musonda's natural position but surely to eff they'd be worth a try out there when Sinclair is so out of form?
If Rodgers doesn't think anyone else, apart from Hayes, can play there then I understand why he has persevered with Sinclair. The alternative would be a change of formation which doesn't seem to be an option at all.

I think what will probably frustrate him the most is the lack of personal development in just about every player this year.
Only Ajer has pushed on really from last season, with Ntcham developing as the season has gone on. Brown and Forrest have been excellent but I wouldn't say they've really developed. They've just shown, consistently, what a lot of people already knew they had.
Injury has interrupted several players' seasons (Griffiths, Rogic, Dembele, Boyata, Armstrong, Roberts). I think Tierney and McGregor have been good but haven't really pushed on to another level.

I'm not confident with £20m we will sign a decent defence. Maybe overreacting but BR's recruitment of defenders has been woeful. I´m no doubt in the minority here but despite all the criticism of Boyata, Simonovich, Hendry etc. I do not believe our problems are with the defence. If you go by stats (and what else can you go by?) we have conceded 21 goals in 33 games, which is easily the best defensive record in Britain. By contrast, at the other end of the pitch our record is woeful, 64 scored in 33 games. Thatś 1.9 goals a game in a league where we are supposed to be vastly superior to all our opponents. That makes us less of a goal threat than Wolves, Blackburn, and Wigan who play in much more competitive leagues. It even puts us behind Accrington Stanley and Wycombe. No, I think if we could fix our problems up front and start converting out usual possession dominance into actual goals, the defence would be much less of a problem than some of us imagine it to be.

The alternative would be a change of formation which doesn't seem to be an option at all. I agree, Hayes would have provided an alternative. Taking in Sinclairs cross for the second, he is largely ineffective this season. In the game against Dundee, he was allowed possession on several occasions, defenders held their line while he ran the width of the box achieving nothing. He spends games looking busy, doing nothing. Then plan B seems to be N'Cham rocketing shots into orbit. Rogic seems about the only viable option at the moment. Disappointing after all the hype of Rodgers signings, Deila's team playing Strachan's football.

Right now, the football’s the same it’s just the wage bill is three times bigger. And remember, Deila nearly won a treble.
Is it actually 3x ? nowhere near double never mind triple

Celtic have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres. According to Spanish outlet AS, via TeamTalk, Celtic and Newcastle could be set to battle it out for Torres this summer. The report claims that Torres has already confirmed his intentions for the summer. Torres has admitted that he will be leaving Atletico at the end of the season. This opens the door for Celtic to swoop in and snap up the former Liverpool and Chelsea striker. http://readceltic.com/2018/04/09/celtic-join-race-to-sign-fernando-torres/

Set up our winner yesterday, in a game we created very little collectively. Top scorer / top assists. Can see why he keeps faith in him.

Our highest earner from what I heard.
Me too. My info is he is at top end of the range I quoted. It's quite staggering if true especially as he looks a long way away from being first team ready. That's correct

Ronnie nearly won a treble joining tonnes of other Celtic managers who also didn’t win a treble.
Rodgers on the other hand is one of a fairly small list.

Looks like no contract fot Roberts next season.
Brendan Rodgers reveals when Celtic loan star Charly Musonda will make impact at Hoops The Chelsea youngster hasn't hit the heights expected of him yet but Rodgers believes it will happen.
Spoiler: click to toggle ByMichael Gannon Brendan Rodgers insists price tags and sentiment won’t get Marvin Commper into his team. And the Celtic boss also reckons it will be next season before fellow absentee Charly Musonda starts to sparkle. Compper has barely been sighted since arriving for £1 million from RB Leipzig. Signed as a 32-year-old to bring experience into the backline, the German has played just once, against Morton in the Scottish Cup. Compper has unable to break into the team due to the performances of Norwegian teenager Kristoffer Ajer and Rodgers insists he won’t just pitch him into the fray because he cost a seven-figure sum or wants him to feel at ease. He said: “It was difficult for Marvin because he was injured in Dubai during the winter break, which put him out for a while. “During that period young Kris has come into the team and been absolutely outstanding. So there have been others ahead of Marvin. “His qualities are pretty clear for us, his experience and his way of working with the younger guys in training. Of course he wants to play as well but these aren’t fitness games we’re playing. “I’m certainly not sentimental. We need to pick a team that gets the results. I’ll make a change if I don’t like the way we’re playing. “It’s always been irrespective of age for me. When I first came in Kris was a midfielder and I thought his best position would be centre-half. Maybe in Norway he could play midfield but he has big possibilities at centre half. “I knew he wasn’t going to get the games there for me at first, so we loaned him to Kilmarnock to get that positional experience. But it was more so he had to head the ball, because I knew he would be under pressure at Kilmarnock. “That’s important if he’s going to do well in the British game. “He did well there, came back to us and looked as if he’d developed as a man. Then it was just about timing and when to put him in. “He did well in some of the Champions League qualifiers but still needed more time to develop. Now he’s in the team with a better understanding of the position. “He has everything. His potential is huge. He’s 6ft 5, quick, can play football. He’s a very bright boy as well, he knows there’s still a lot of learning for him. He’s got this great hunger to get better, which I love in players, and he’s not even 20 yet. “Marvin is a good guy, I like him. Hopefully in his time here he gets a chance to show his qualities. But that’s only if other players aren’t playing so well.” Rodgers is clear that the defender is still having an influence at the club without playing. Similar to Kolo Toure without as much experience of the top level, the defender is passing on tips to kids such as Jack Hendry and Ajer. Rodgers added: “He’s a really good communicator. He has certain qualities which really help support others. “We have a lot of young players in our squad, especially in central defence, so to have that experience around them helps. From a coaching and management perspective it’s valuable having him around, even if he’s not playing.” Musonda has on been on the fringes after signing an 18-month loan deal from Chelsea . At 21 he is looking to enhance his development and Rodgers believes he is a sparkling asset. Musonda has only made one start and three sub appearances but Rodgers says the kid is satisfied to bide his time and bed into the scene before really looking to shine next term. He said: “It’s a different type of loan for Charly compared to when he went to Spain and had to succeed straight away. Here he has 18 months to settle in, find the way of working and realising the pressures of a big club. “But he’s enjoying every minute of it and he knows that over time here that he will get an opportunity to show it in training where he works well and then in the games. It’s just time, that’s all. “All players want to play but he’s no different to Patrick Roberts or some of the others. They have a respect for where they are and what the team is doing. They respect that you can only pick 11 players. “He’s absolutely fine. He’s here for the 18 months and by the end of that he knows he is going to be a better player. “He’ll make some appearances from when he arrived in January to the end of this season. Then I think next season will be a big one for him to make his mark.” Have you been impressed with Charly Musonda's start to life at Celtic? https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/brendan-rodgers-reveals-celtic-loan-12333201

Going to be a nuclear explosion of pish and scheidt in here on the day we lose a game domestically that actually matters. Agree totally. Another possible treble, still in Europe in January after Champions League is all you could ask for.
However I do think some questions have to be asked about recruitment over the past 15 months. Say you sign ten players, a decent average would be about 6 or 7 seven being a success. Of the players we have signed, N'tcham looks good, Edouard has been Ok (still wouldn't pay £8M for him) and Bain has been a good back up. Jury still out on Hendry.
That leaves Benyu, Eboue Kouassi, Hayes, Compper, Gamboa, De Vries and so far Musonda. I don't think its going over the top to say that our signings are a bit of a worry.

He lost his place because he played poorly in those matches. The narrative that he’s settling in for a few months with a view to making a big impact next year just isn’t true. Rodgers, I feel, is covering for both him and Compper here. They’ve been major disappointments.
