His recruitment added to his blind spots for players is very concerning.

If we had a more coherent challenger might be a different story but this season as already been said we have regressed a fair bit.

The number of players brought in who have become nothing more than bit part participants is definitely a concern at this point. At least for me it is.
Yeap. It's like Ronny Delia was in charge again. Ok, maybe not that bad, but as I have said before - numbers wise his record in successful signings hasn't been that wonderful.

Right now, the footballs the same its just the wage bill is three times bigger.

And remember, Deila nearly won a treble.

I'm not confident with 20m we will sign a decent defence. Maybe overreacting but BR's recruitment of defenders has been woeful.

We've essentially brought nothing extra to the squad in the winter transfer window bar Bain and that's BR's fault.
Is it? What if he had targets that became unavailable? What if he was told there was no money to spend?

Might not suit our narrative but it is plausible that we may have stepped up with a better challenge. :ph43r:

He'd still buy better defenders??

Recruitment was always his Achilles heel at Liverpool. His blame there was always mitigated to an extent due to the transfer committee in place at Anfield, though Klopp has never expressed any problem with it.
His recruitment at Reading was a bit haphazard as well, and he leaned heavily on the loan market there.

You watched us recently? We are dire. Boring, pedestrian and pretty much chance free.

All very reminiscent of Strachan, some of Lennon and Deila.

They all got criticised for pish performances in successful seasons so why should Rodgers be any different.

Nail on the head for me . Said it numerous times and the only fall back people have is "aww yer spoiled", "wit about last season", "where were you in the 90s".

For me this season says more about the standard of the opposition that we can be as poor as we have been. The managers recruitment must be brought into question.

29 Scott Bain, (loan) from Dundee, Jan 2018
04 Jack Hendry, 1.2m from Dundee, Jan 2018
67 Charly Musonda, (loan) from Chelsea, Jan 2018
33 Marvin Compper, 1m from Red Bull Leipzig, Dec 2017
22 Odsonne Edouard, (loan) from Paris Saint-Germain, Aug 2017
07 Patrick Roberts, (loan) from Manchester City, Aug 2017
21 Olivier Ntcham, 4.5m from Manchester City, Jul 2017
26 Kundai Benyu, undisclosed from Ipswich Town, Jun 2017
15 Jonny Hayes, 1.3m from Aberdeen, Jun 2017
88 Kouassi Eboue, 2.8m from FC Krasnodar, Jan 2017
12 Cristian Gamboa, 1m from West Bromwich Albion, Aug 2016
24 Dorus de Vries, undisclosed from Nottingham Forest, Aug 2016
11 Scott Sinclair, 3.5m from Aston Villa, Aug 2016
02 Kolo Toure, free from Liverpool, Jul 2016
10 Moussa Dembele, 500,000 from Fulham, Jun 2016

Dembele apparently already one on the radar and Roberts being inherited from the previous regime. Questions must be asked regarding the above list. We've a higher wage bill and very little to show in return. I know Peter Lawwell addressed this in a meeting with the recruitment team recently after our exit to Zenit, went along the lines of what we are paying out isn't being reflected with player valuations/performances.

Fair to say weve wasted a good few quid, even including players such as Benyu, Hayes, Morgan etc who are all viewed as low risk signings. The costs soon mount up.

We chased Musonda for 2 transfer windows.

Depending on who you listen to we are paying 35k to 45k a week for him. He cant get a game and looks nowhere near ready to start. A colossal waste of money so far.

Me too. My info is he is at top end of the range I quoted. It's quite staggering if true especially as he looks a long way away from being first team ready.
