Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Yep, mate a very shrewd move.

He is a top manager.
Without a doubt bud. His preperation seems second to none.
Yep, mate. He's been up to every challenge domestic football has thrown at him.

Brilliant. The default so often is 4-4-1 with 10 men.

Sorry quote wasn't working.

The two up top was such a brave move. If it had backfired the media and some of our support would have got stuck into, Brendan.

Yesterday was probably his biggest domestic test since arriving - throw in some dodgy performances and going a man down, and I'd say that win is probably up there with his very best.

I just hope the fans questioning his decisions will understand that he knows better.
lol good one

Seriously though his decisions in-game are usually very good. I like that he's bold and nearly always chooses to go on the front foot. Sometimes it doesn't work out and we look daft but then there are games like yesterday.

I have to say, when he was making the second substitution yesterday at 2-2, I'm expecting another midfielder/defender to come on.

Genuine "WTF " moment when we launch Edouard at them.

Took a proper set of bollocks in the circumstances to make changes that would push them back , but wow, what a pay-off.

Stay for the Ten Brendan, there's a whole lot more fun to be had.
That is a Leo Beenhakker tactic - if his teams were reduced to ten men, he would bring on an extra forward to high press the opposition's defence. It can be risky, but obviously Brendan knew it was worth it against the zombies.

That’s just Rodgers though. Remember the 3-3 with Man City? They were putting us under a lot of pressure so he put Griffiths on with Dembele so they had to leave their centre halfs at the back.

He did.

He is prepared to gamble..I dont always agree with it (European results at times :brickwall: ) but it worked brilliantly against Huns yesterday.

He is a proper gaffer and football man who is - genereally speaking - tactiacally astute and measured on what he wants & how he goes about actually getting it.

We are lucky to have him and if he stays for 10IAR Ill & then leaves I'll die a happy man!

At 2-2 the huns are going for victory and what does our manager do? He calmly sends on a forward who wins us the game.

Perhaps if he hadn't played Boyata and started with Edouard and Dembele we would have won easily?

Our game of the season, regardless of what happens in the semi final. Aside from ten men winning the league back in the 70's, is there anyone on here that can think of a better and more satisfying win at Ibrokes?

Nothing comes close in my lifetime.
Exactly, it was good to cut them down after they had found a bit of self belief. Way more satisfying than walking over them again when their team and their fans already know they are doomed before a ball is kicked.

Given the fact there isn’t a club in football that has gone through such an embarrassing era, quite literally the only way for them to go is up. Having said that, although we have much more quality in our ranks, playing a team that actually believe they can beat us, is very different to one that expects a defeat. We have seen ourselves how a change of mentality can pull out far greater performances.

I think this season would turn out to be even more remarkable than last should Brendan win another treble. To do a treble in his first season, and undefeated was stunning, but the team was fresh and even the opposition looked star struck.

To do a second treble, with all those injuries to key players, and with the strongest domestic league in a long time would be really impressive, despite some average performances.

I thought some of decisions yesterday were strange. Leaving Edouard out when he was in such god form previous game seemed strange. Boyata and Armstrong both looked too rusty to be in this game. Surely Hendry and Kouasi would have been better options.

Still changing to 4-3-2 was clearly right decision when we went to ten men.

I don't know why everyone was surprised by it. Its pretty much exactly what we did against Aberdeen when we went down to 10.

It also a very good defensive move, by adding another 6ft plus guy into the mix for corners and free kicks into the box.

I remember a lot of those gambles last season paying off. Man City was a fantastic example.

Love seeing him pull risky moves off like yesterday. Definitely different to managing it in Europe but he knew what he was doing yesterday. A little strange the starting line up but hey ho, we got there in the end.

Seriously love this man

Probably in other threads but good quotes relating to our tactics yesterday.

Brown celebrated, arms outstretched, Ibrox getting a reminder of a picture from some time ago. “He is a big game player,” said Rodgers. “Like I said, they all understand how we work when we go to 10 men. Obviously, Scotty is the captain and he can dictate that message. “It is important that everyone understands that. I think you saw that calmness from the players. They knew exactly what they were doing and carried it out perfectly.

“You can either work two ways when you lose a man,” explained Rodgers after the game. “You can go more defensive, sit and wait for the game and see what happens. But I always feel in that moment if you put on an extra attacker, reshuffle the balance in your team, the other team look to force more players forward into the game.

“You could see Rangers ran out of ideas a little bit. Both full backs were gone. You put your two strikers on that gives you two v two on half a pitch. I will fancy Odsonne and Moussa Dembele when it is two v two on half a pitch against most centre backs.

“They worked it brilliantly. That was the thinking behind it. I can go defensive, but my intent is always to attack. Eight times out of 10 you will hopefully succeed that way.

“Odsonne is one of the best young players I have worked with. He has everything, touch, movement, speed, work ethic and a natural in-built football brain. I see it every day in training he has the quality to go either way but to show such composure and to go in the inside and finish like that it really endears him to the supporters, especially here at Ibrox.

“I am delighted for him and for the team. There was a lot of noise coming into the game but the boys kept their humility and had to twice come from behind in the game. “They then came up with a brilliant, brilliant win.”

yip.

First half we were all over the shop. Brendan takes plenty of plaudits for his in-game management, needs to start making the right decisions before the games starts.

Starting Boyata was a mistake but it was more than rectified by showing balls of steel and going 2 up top. An awful lot of managers would've shut up shop at 2-2, 10 men away from home to your biggest rivals. Not Brendan. He's a winner.

On MNF tonight on Sky at 7. They usually do a q&a with the guest after the match too so should be good.
