Achievements at Celtic just don't register down south.

NL,WGS & MON all had decent results in europe but mattered little to epl employers.

Won't be long till every club in epl has a foreign manager.
His job at Swansea was remarkable . A slip away from winning the English premier league with Liverpool . Then his achievements at Celtic, an undefeated treble , on for a 2nd treble . 2 champions league group stage qualifications. Europe after Christmas. His stock will be high. Naive to think otherwise
No inside info but I wouldn't be surprised if, Brendan left either at the end of this season or the next.
He's got his new pitch to look forward to :arrr:

Ha ha true, mate :)

If we manage to pull off the back to back trebles then, Brendan might feel he can't do much more with us.

If he did think that he'd be mental given we've underperformed in Europe two years in a row. I know we've progressed from Deila's time just to get to the CL groups twice, and progressed from year 1 to year 2 by moving from 4th to 3rd (getting to EL last 32), but overall, we have definitely underperformed in European games.

We've been effing shampoo in pretty much every defeat bar the Bayern game at CP. Roundly horsed, pumped, slapped off the park, you name it.

There's definitely a lot more to be done with Celtic as far as Brendan's concerned.

He got us out of the group. The way football is going I can't see him being able to do much more than that.

I agree the performances have not been great in some of the games.

The number of clueless gobscheidts infesting this thread is becoming exponential. :brickwall:
 Not content with selling every player for £millions as soon as they have three decent games, they now need to decide when our manager will have had enough of our rubbish wee club.

I can’t remeber his name, but I recognise his voice, it’s that carrot from bbc final score, he’s got an oily perm.

His questions to Brendan about the training regime, then the communication aspect and asking Ajer about it too.

The guy is actually traveling to a press conference and he comes up with shampoo like that? Dearie me

Judging by the way he talks about developing players and teams, it seems this gives him almost as much satisfaction as winning things. I think he may see beyond the notions of 'taking Celtic as far as he can' and towards overseeing some years of cultivating a number of individuals and a team. Perhaps even for a couple of cycles. Just a hunch though.

Trebles are fantastic but he probably wants a prolonged period of adhering to a style of play and being consistently competitive in Europe is definitely something he is aiming for, so the 'taken us as far as he can' idea might not even apply.

He doesn't strike me as someone who would walk away from these things.

A couple other things:

he's still relatively young for a manager so still has time to have a crack at the bigger leagues.

The bigger leagues' clubs, especially in England, won't give him the chance to work on a 'project' like the one he currently has at Celtic. Steve Clarke said he had offers from English clubs but chose Kilmarnock knowing it would be low budget and less lucrative personally but he would have time to build something, rather than always being 6 games away from the sack (though this rule doesn't seem to apply to Wenger  .

Brendan Rodgers insists he is already in his dream job after shrugging off suggestions he’s on Arsenal’s wishlist to replace under-fire Arsene Wenger.

The Celtic manager is understood to be in the frame for the Emirates hotseat – along with Mikel Arteta and Joachim Low – as Frenchman Wenger feels the heat with the Gunners’ season unravelling.

Rodgers’ stock remains high in the English Premier League after guiding Liverpool back to the Champions League and to within a whisker of winning the title.

He has been linked with several positions down south but insisted his heart remains at Celtic Park.

Rodgers said: “I’m loving my life up here. I’m not going to be here forever but I’m living in a dream.

“Dreams always come to an end at some point, that’s for sure. But I am always relaxed about speculation and what not. My focus is only on Celtic.

“Arsenal are a great club, they have a great manager and they are going through a tough time of course.

“People will look at it and see that I went to Liverpool, they were struggling for five seasons for Champions League football and I was able to get them back.

“And when I came to Celtic, they hadn’t been in the Champions League for two seasons and I got them back.

"So maybe people are thinking okay, Arsenal have been out of the Champions League and is that maybe the equation for someone like myself.

“The other stuff you can’t control so I can’t worry about it.”

Rodgers has backed Wenger despite the Frenchman taking heavy flak with the Gunners outside the top four in the EPL, hammered by Man City in the League Cup Final last week and then duffed up again by Pep Guardiola’s slick side in midweek.

The Celts gaffer said: “It’s unfortunately the game now but it will always be the case at big clubs, especially if your results just turn the other way.

“What you have to be prepared for when you manage the big clubs is there is maybe going to be between five and 10 people linked with your job, you know that. It doesn’t happen in too many other industries.

“We live a privileged life, we get to manage and work with great players and great people.

“But like I say with the big clubs comes big scrutiny and probably when my results drop off here a bit I’m sure there will be names linked but you have to accept that as part of the job.

“Arsene will know that, he’s got great experience, he’s a really good man. He’s done wonders for British football.”

Rodgers dismissed the speculation and insisted his mind is only on Morton in the Scottish Cup today.

He is relieved the quarter-final has got the go-ahead even if the Cappielow club have voiced their concerns.

He said: “The pitch is great, it’s playable and the guys have done a great job. The stadium is fine.

“There has been a lot of work inside and outside so the game will be fine.”

Love Brendan's response to the Arsenal speculation, which can be paraphrased as "they probably want me because I'm great, but I'm very happy where I am and Arsene is a top man."

He gives the media nothing, whilst being classy at all times.

Yeah, I've been pleased to hear this sort of chat in the last few days.

We also have a stack of key players coming back from injury, so things should be very different going into the home straight.

It'll be especially pleasing given the huns & media have worked themselves into fever pitch recently.
