Quoting limited to 3 levels deephttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/Wenger-faces-axeQueen’s Celtic by a combined score of 5-1; and Mikel Arteta, because a three-man shortlist might look lazy.

I make that 13 years running for the “WTF?” response to the Fiver.

Arsenal as a club want to be challenging for the CL. Which is why Rodgers is unlikely to be on their list.

Arsenal as a club don't care about winning trophies or challenging for anything.

The fans might, but the board don't.

Don't see arsenal trying to get Rodgers. Their fans would go mental. They will want a big name.
Rodgers is a big name. Only 7 letters jokes incoming

Speaking of BR, if he says "Browny" one more time I'm officially starting the Rodgers GTF CSC.
I am sure Lenny did the same. The norn accent must struggle with the word.

A bit like a Glaswegian trying to say whataboutye
I grew up ten miles from Carnlough (BR home patch) so he has no excuse. Broonie is maybe just too colloquial for a man of his esteem. He needs to get back home for a week, they'd soon put him straight.

There’s not a chance of Rodgers landing an Arsenal-type job unless he made a huge impact for us in Europe. What he’s doing domestically up here won’t even register with Arsenal’s owners.

That's pretty much my take on it too. Look what Lennon did for us in Europe only for his preferred job at Everton to go elsewhere. By the time he eventually did leave, the CL run had diminished in the memory and the only real option was Bolton.

Rodgers needs a legit, punching well above our weight, European campaign. Qualifying for the group stages won't cut it.

He's already managed at a more prominent club down there. I'm not seeing how nearly winning the League with Liverpool necessarily rules him out of an Arsenal type job.

The current team doesn't have the backbone to grind out a consistent European campaign.

Very hot and cold.

The job you have to do down there to be regarded even remotely successful is near impossible.

He nearly won them the league and pretty sure he still has a better record than Klopp in the league and he's branded a joke by their fans.

Its pretty bizarre but that's what you get when every single game is over analysed.

And got them closer to a title than Arsene has done with Arsenal in many a year.

I don’t think Arsenal expect more from the CL than to make a fist of qualifying from the group stages. The amount of money they get from the TV deals means CL participation more important than the money.

I think after Arsene the gunners will go with a European pedigree name and throw cash at him for a couple of seasons and see if they can make an imprint on the top 4 again. If they went for Brendan it would suggest a patience that I don’t think the fans have any more.

Wenger has been brutal for years now too, the Arsenal board that supposedly wouldn't consider Brendan have been happy to plod along with his brand of dated mediocrity for a decade or more.

Different situations. Rodgers has a record of managing in England and its a decent record. Lennon didn't have that.

Aye hes been awful and he should've walked away from it years ago. They do plan on making the top 4 though and I just think if Rodgers is ever going to manage in the EPL again it'll be more in the form of an Everton, Southampton etc.

I just can't see anyone from Scottish football being on their radar tbh.

I think and hope you are right about them eventually looking overseas at an experienced winner, but when you see guys like Tuchel mentioned then it's a concern, he's not shown more than Brendan over the piece for me.

We haven't been vintage this season but I think Brendan has a lot still to do, development wise, in Europe as well as completing ten.

I was thinking the same. This season seems almost transitional. A lot of dead wood spotted and I expect big players leaving in the summer with big players coming in.

Jozo and Dembele both away I reckon. Two first team starters in vital position with Dembele bringing us in atleast 15m.

Will be happy to see this season over with, secure the treble and get right back into a meaty, emotional summer transfer window thread. :comp:

I've heard a lot of "we have a young side" recently and that's okay with me, so long as we are developing talent toward an end result, there has to be a goal other than watching players get to grips with the game them being sold off and repeat.

I get that we can't afford a side full of experience but, picking again on Arsene, we really don't want to be reconstructing the team constantly offering the same excuses. Wenger tried to build sides time and again but either the quality wasn't there or the player got impatient and left, even worse when to a rival.

Big summer ahead, some work to do first.
