i am going to give BR some slack here, the average age of our team is very low, you take out mainstays like Brown, Lustig anf Gordon extremely young. It was disappointing on thursday, gut wrenching tbh but 9 points clear in all domestic cups some real potential in squad. Zenit were average imo annd they spent nigh on 100m, i wonder what their fans think. It must be exremely difficult to attract players to our shampoo league, the draw of our Club isnt enough anymore, so we keep our eyes peeled for young talent in Europe and thats getting more difficult. That lad from Eupen spotted and scouted but lost to an EPL team. It is going to be more difficult for Brendan i think to bring these wholesale squad changes everyone is looking for. Brendan hopefully will identify some players once good but mayber out of form that have played at a decent level and want to reignite their careers. |

Occasional Substitute

I’m complaining about going out of Europe. We were humped out of the CL and ended up in the EL due to a victory against a club in disarray. We outplayed a Zenit team at Celtic Park and should have scored more goals than we did. The manager then dismantles the team for the next game and we drop 2 points at home so as to 'rest' 6 players. However, we then capitulate in the 2nd leg playing a brand of football that was so mind-numbing that even the BT director panned into the crowd for 5 seconds whilst we were in possession. I’m complaining about being 9 points ahead. We have chucked away loads of points against wee diddy teams due to poor team selections and game management,(see above as an example) we should be out of sight. Don't start me on how much the management are on. It is a sad day indeed when the fans are donating tonnes of food for local food banks and the manager is driving around in a Bentley with a private plate. The price of a season ticket is neither here nor there, it is about the quality of the play on the park that matters. Edited by screwtop, 24 Feb 2018, 01:42 PM.

It has always concerned me that our average age is so young. That's why I quite welcomed Compper (before his injury) because I think the right blend is around three really experienced campaigners who can coach some of the younger guys through the eye of a storm. In addition to signing young players (because that is our model and it isn't going away) I think we should be signing one or two experienced but not decrepit players. Possibly for two year contracts and for the penultimate move of their careers. Perhaps players who have played at a high level but not managed trophies yet. We desperately need the calm and assurance that someone like this brings, because young talent only gets you so far. Even taking our comparatively meagre budget into account. |

Ntcham is the strange one. He can pick a forward pass but our play does tend to slow down when he's on the park. |

Armstrong was getting slaughtered on here a few months back. Btw I do like Armstrong as a player. As for Ntcham. When he was left out v The Huns, this place went into meltdown. |

We have some problems* but I honestly feel the major one* is an on form Roberts's absence as he can open up these defences on his own. *De Vries/Lustig/Simunovic were problems long before Thursday night. |

It is true that when Armstrong plays well, the team plays well but he has regularly been pish this season, Ntcham is exactly the same. And Kouassi. And Sinclair. And Tom Rogic. It could almost be called a pattern..... Edited by TheVambo, 24 Feb 2018, 08:01 PM.
